Jamal Shead: Houston Cougars star hailed for cleaning up after teammate kicked trash can
A loss to Alabama at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa on Saturday, December 11, left the University of Houston men's basketball team members fuming and they did not take down the defeat easily. Houston lost 83-82. It was a one-point victory for Alabama and was a home-ground victory for them.
Things took a turn for the worse when the members of the Houston Cougars threw trash on the court on their way towards the locker room. The last point made by Houston missed a jumper. Two tip-in attempts were made by Alabama’s JD Davison, smacking the ball away from the rim as the time expired. This was believed to be a goaltending warning but was not warranted. Houston head coach Kelvin Sampson and some of the players criticized the officials for attempting to block the review.

As the players and officials walked out of the court without reviewing the final goaltending, one of Houston's staff was seen breaking chairs and kicking one on the way to the locker room. Houston's forward Reggie Chaney followed his staff by kicking the chair and hitting the garbage can. It left a pile of garbage on the court. However, Jamal Shead, a sophomore guard, stopped at the garbage can and began to clean up the mess created by his teammates.
This gesture by Jamal made him trending on Twitter. Twitter user AdamWeil22 said "Stay classy, Houston". Josh Pate, a national college football analyst for 247Sports and CBS Sports HQ, posted a video on Twitter captioned "Pate State material. CAN teach it."

Twitter user Danilo Lima reacted in a positive fashion saying "What makes it even better (for him) is that the one who made this mess was an assistant coach. He is showing a lot more class than the one who should be teaching him."
