BUIES CREEK, NORTH CAROLINA: A popular dermatologist on social media has warned people against kissing bearded men. Dr Muneeb Shah, popularly known online as the "Derm Doctor," issued the warning on TikTok after a woman went public with her 'pash rash.'

The woman in the video posted, “Kissed a guy with facial hair thinking it was a good idea at the time.” She also went on to show her infected chin, which got worse over the next few days. Reacting to the video, the dermatologist shared that the red rash was an "impetigo bacterial infection."

‘They create tiny little cuts in the skin’

The doctor, known for his skin care tips, noted, “See, I've been saying that beards carry a ton of bacteria, and when you rub up against them, they create tiny little cuts in the skin, which can lead to infections like impetigo,” before telling men with facial hair, “Clean your beards.”

Dr Shah spoke with Newsweek after his reaction video went viral and said, “Classically, it produces a pink rash with a 'honey-colored' crust on it. Sharp beard hairs from vigorous kissing can cause little breaks in the skin that introduce this bacteria into the skin. Not just that but beards tend to harbor a decent amount of bacteria.”

He added, “This can be avoided by cleaning the beard with soap and water regularly or spraying the beard with a gentle hypochlorous acid product. This type of infection should be treated with antibiotics by a physician!”

‘Just wash the WHOLE face’

Meanwhile, the doctor’s TikTok video received multiple comments from his millions of followers. A user said, “There's me never kissing with a man with a beard without asking him to fill out a form detailing his beard hygiene routine.” Another user commented, “if a man went as far as ruining my clear skin i would become violent.”

The third user stated, “Everyone asking how to wash your beard do y’all not wash your face? Do you only wash the exposed skin on your face? Just wash the WHOLE face hello?!” The fourth user mentioned, “I had impetigo in college😱 it all makes sense now…….”

“Didn’t realize how poor my exs hygiene was until I started dating my bf now 😅 he’s a nice clean man but my ex was NOT,” a person posted. Another one remarked, “Thank god I have a man who cleans his face and hands all the time.” One man, feeling the heat, asked the doctor, “I clean my beard but sometimes it doesn’t feel clean any suggestions as to what product to use?”

Another person adviced, “Guys. Wash your beard with BEARD shampoo (not head&shoulders) every 2-3 days and use some beard oil.” “I will never complain about buying my husbands beard cleaning/maintenance items again!!😂” a woman added.
