What is skin cycling trend on TikTok? Dermatologists recommend exfoliating
Skin cycling is the most recent trend in beauty, which is taking over TikTok. According to a number of skin professionals and dermatologists, the skin cycling trend has the ability to endure and is far from an odd and unusual practice, with 3.5 billion views on the hashtag.
Dr Whitney Bowe, a dermatologist located in New York, offered her idea for the ideal skin cycling routine on TikTok. According to her, adopting a skin cycling practice is supposed to help prevent the skin barrier from being weakened by overusing active ingredients.

What is Skin Cycling?
Dr Bowe coined the term "skin cycling." Skin cycling is a purposeful and calculated technique to upgrade your nightly skincare regimen. It is a four-night cycle of exfoliation, retinoid use, and recovery to effectively exfoliate and apply active ingredients without risking irritation or damage.
How does skin cycling work?
Dr Bowe recommends following a cleanser with a chemical exfoliator to give skin an immediate glow and preps it for night two. After exfoliating, apply a fragrance-free moisturizer that focuses on barrier repair. Avoid very occlusive oils like coconut oil.
On the second night of your cycle, apply a small amount of retinol to improve texture, hyperpigmentation, and acne. If you have sensitive skin, apply moisturizer first, then retinol. If you've never used retinol before, use it once every few days.
Recovery nights should focus on nourishing the skin microbiome and repairing the skin barrier, using hydrating and moisturizing products after cleansing, and starting to see results in as little as 8 days or two cycles.
Dr Sherwin Parikh, co-founder of Tribeca Skin Center and AP Chem also said that skin cycling is important during seasonal variations in skin care regimens, especially in changing climates.
“Skin cycling is a trend that became popular on TikTok, but the concept has been practiced by skin care professionals for many years,” says Amy Peterson, medical aesthetician and founder of Miami medspa Skincare by Amy Peterson, Women'sHealth reported.
