'It was a nightmare': Shania Twain shares her struggle with Covid-induced pneumonia in Switzerland
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Shania Twain had ‘a movie-like experience’ when she was battling pneumonia and COVID-19. The country singer in a recent interview shared that after her condition worsened, she had to be airlifted amid the peak of the pandemic. The Man! I Feel Like A Woman!’ singer was then in Lake Geneva, Switzerland, with her husband Frédéric Thiébaud. Twain also talked about the struggle her partner had to go through during those days. "My husband was freaking out, to be honest. He was really panicking because he was the one having to pull it all together," said Twain.
Thiébaud had to multitask as he looked for a bed in a nearby hospital, and getting someone to airlift her, the loving husband also calmed Twain as she struggled with her deteriorating health. "He spent hours and hours every day on the phone. It was just a real nightmare for him," added the ‘You’re Still The One’ singer. Twain was rushed to the hospital after getting a bed in a hospital via air. "It was like science fiction; I felt like I was going to another planet or something. It all kind of happened in slow motion,” she told The Mirror.

The outlet revealed that the country singer was put in isolation as per protocol and received plasma therapy. "It took several days to start building up any antibodies at all, so it was a very dangerous time and very scary,” Twain said. The singer recalled her horrifying experience while battling health, though she was quick to mention how lucky she was to get immediate help. The 57-year-old said, "I thought, 'Wow if I was living alone in a more isolated scenario, I don't know what would have happened.” Before adding, "Twain told the outlet. She later released the song Inhale/Exhale Air, “It’s a song of gratitude and appreciation. I was inspired that I still had air in my lungs,” said Twain. The ‘Forever, and for Always’ singer underwent throat surgery in 2018, to get her nerves strengthened once again, and with physical therapy and relearning her art, Twain came back stronger, “It’s great to be just singing again, on a tour with my new voice after my surgery… I’m in a very celebratory state of mind.” The celebrated singer added that she got “more rasp” in her voice now.
