According to an affidavit obtained by Penn Live, the suspect was apparently following the victim on July 24, 2021, while her other sibling went to a doctor's appointment. According to court records, the family said that the daughter was upset when she came back home and reportedly informed them during the shower that her vagina hurt. Police allegedly took DNA samples from her underwear as well as the chair where the attack occurred. According to Penn Live, investigators were unable to rule out the possibility that the DNA belonged to Metz.

Earlier, Metz was also placed on Pennsylvania's most wanted absconders list and reportedly freed around March 30. He has not appeared in court in connection with his alleged offenses. According to Local 12 News, the culprit faces up to 1,000 years in jail if convicted on all 115 counts.
