Is 'The Curse of Oak Island' team close to finding treasure? History crew make big discoveries at the Swamp and on Lot 5
NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA: A subterranean entrance and a slew of treasures offers the 'The Curse of Oak Island' crew renewed hope. In Season 11, Episode 10 of 'The Curse of Oak Island' fans got to see the men discover a possible human-made entrance to an underground cave.
Fans were clearly unprepared for Tuesday's episode, which featured heavily on artifacts. There were significant findings discovered in the wetlands and on Lot 5.
But probably the most exciting news this week came from surveyor Steve Guptill, who was seen making a presentation to the staff in the War Room. Steve discovered "some sort of opening" to an underground cave.
This cave, or cavern, is most likely Aladdin's Cave, which was discovered around 150 feet underground in the Money Pit region. The crew has been trying to figure out whether it was natural or man-made, and if there was access in and out.
It now looks like Steve has discovered an artificial human-made aperture. Marty Lagina said, "That's a pretty clean right angle."
What did 'The Curse of Oak Island' team find in the Swamp?
This episode focused on the Swamp, which Billy Gerhardt and the crew started digging up last week. The excavation permits have only just arrived, so the crew is hoping to catch up on one of this season's most underworked regions.
This week, the Fellowship resumes its work in the swamp and is rewarded with astounding proof of major freight movements on Oak Island decades ago. The guys worked on the southern corner, attempting to uncover more of the stone highway.
This path is supposed to stretch back hundreds of years, and the crew believes it was used to convey riches from moored ships to the Money Pit.
Metal detectorist Gary Drayton inspected the remaining material Billy unearthed for relics, and as fans can see, he discovered something "gorgeous."
Who is Carmen Legge on 'The Curse of Oak Island'?
On Tuesday, blacksmith specialist Carmen Legge returned to Oak Island to conduct additional research on the results.
Speaking of moving treasure, the episode also featured Carmen studying a chain that he said was "used to lift a chest onto a wharf," and that it was ancient. The boys could be hoping that this validates their idea regarding the stone path.
Elsewhere, on the island, archaeologists worked on Lot 5, a large stone building estimated to be 30 to 40 feet wide. There may also be major news here, as archeologist Laird Niven was overheard remarking, "This is an important artifact," while Jamie Kouba commented, "This is really cool."
What is the mystery about Oak Island?
Since the 18th century, there have been attempts to locate wealth and antiquities. Theories regarding treasures on the island vary from pirate riches to Shakespearean manuscripts to the Holy Grail or the Ark of the Covenant, all of which were buried there by the Knights Templar.
