What is the history of Oak Island?
Oak Island is located on the south shore of the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia, Canada.
In 2006, brothers Rick and Marty purchased a 50 percent stake in the company that owns Oak Island. They then became the latest treasure hunters to set out on the quest to find the treasure hidden under the popular Oak Island.
In a span of more than 220 years, several treasure hunters have tried to unearth the buried treasure that the island holds.
What is the curse of Oak Island?
The curse of Oak Island says that seven men will die while looking for the buried treasure before it is found.
So far six men have died searching for the treasure.
When did the curse of Oak Island originate?
The story of the curse of Oak Island began in 1795 when a man called Daniel McInnis discovered an odd shallow dip in the ground on Oak Island.
He and two of his friends thought of digging the spot and see if they could find something. After digging nearly 10 feet down, they found a layer of oak logs. As they continued to dig, the trio came across layers of logs every 10 feet.
Things turned interesting when they discovered a big rock covered in large markings. These men could not read the markings.
Later on, experts figured out that the markings on the rock read, “Forty feet below two million pounds are buried.”
Daniel and his friends took the help of the Onslow Company. Together, they managed to dig around 100 feet into what is now referred to as the 'Money Pit'. When they came back to the spot after taking a break, the pit was flooded with around 60 feet of water.
Since then, many teams have been on a hunt to locate the buried treasure on Oak Island.
What's happening on Oak Island now?
Dan Blankenship and David Tobias got a hold of the land in the 1960s. Later on, they partnered with the Lagina brothers.
