DUSSELDORF, GERMANY: After Svea from 'Prison Brides' openly declared on the show that she had no intention of marrying Joseph and even expressed her hope that he wouldn't propose, the internet buzzed with discussions on her stance. Many viewers were left stunned, wondering why she was in a relationship with him if marriage wasn't on the table.

Some viewers accused Svea of using Joseph merely to stay on the show, suggesting that she might be using him for financial benefits or citizenship. Criticisms also emerged regarding her decision, with some arguing that abandoning her daughter for a man she didn't want to marry seemed illogical.

Svea's revelation stirred up a flurry of opinions online, with viewers expressing skepticism and concern about the motivations behind her relationship with Joseph and the potential impact on her personal life, including her responsibilities as a parent. "I don’t understand why Svea ever got involved with him since she lives in another country and doesn’t want to marry or move?" asked a user.

"How is Svea on prison brides and she doesn’t want to be a bride," wrote another. "Wait Svea doesn’t want to get married but thinks he’s going to move to Germany? How is that gonna happen?" one viewer asked. 

"Svea must have used Joseph and this show for a few extra coins and some exposure or something," added another. Others were confused about her child. "Svea has a kid...but doesn't want to remarry...but she wants to be with Joseph and start a family...," one person wrote. "Wait, Svea doesn't want to get married? Is that what she just said? So she's going through all this crap for a show called #PrisonBrides, but doesn't want to get married," another said.

Why doesn't Svea want to marry Joseph? 

In Episode 5 of 'Prison Brides', Svea confesses that she's not ready for marriage. Despite being in a relationship with her boyfriend, Svea prioritized her career over starting a family at this point in her life.

In contrast, Joseph expressed his eagerness to start a family with Svea. However, he acknowledged the need to achieve something in his life before proposing. Svea is candid about her lack of longing for Joseph, citing her intense focus on her business and her time-consuming hobby of horseback riding.

Complicating matters, Svea resides in Germany, 12 hours away from Joseph in Michigan. She admitted, "I hope Joseph doesn't ask for marriage," expressing a desire to grow together in their long-distance relationship instead of rushing into marriage.

While Svea is settled in her life, Joseph is still in the process of finding his footing after being released from prison. He's on the job hunt, and despite Svea's clear stance, Joseph faces the challenge of balancing personal growth and the desire for a committed relationship. 

Was Svea married before? 

In 'Prison Brides', Svea shared that she got married at 19 and had a daughter from her first marriage. Following her divorce, instead of rushing into another marriage, she opted to concentrate on her career.

Later on, she connected with Joseph through online pen pals. Their relationship began with six months of letter exchanges before they officially started dating. Recognizing a profound connection, Svea took the step of discussing her relationship with her parents. Fortunately, she found that her parents reciprocated her feelings of love and support.
