This series follows the life of two best friends, Tully and Kate, who have been friends for decades now, and life has a lot in store for both of them. Both these characters chose different paths in life, that continued to intertwine and mangle, displaying the perfect example of friendship and sisterhood. Hannah’s book is heavily based on her life experiences including her mother’s battle with cancer. That is simply a part of it because Kate’s character in this series is loosely based on Hannah’s mother. Hannah told Netflix, “Many people would do therapy for this, but as a writer, I go into my own head and create her.” She also proceeds to tell her viewers that she wishes she was Tully, but instead, she is Kate too. The more you try and understand the complexity of how Kate’s character was created not only around the author’s mother but also herself, the more you will connect with 'Firefly Lane' as a whole.
