Days of desperate search for a missing Long Island YouTuber, Gabby Petito, is believed to have ended on a very sad note as a body was found close to Spread Creek Dispersed camping area at the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming on September 19. The FBI noted in a statement that the remains were “consistent with the description of Gabrielle Petito”.

FBI agent Charles Jones told the media, “As every parent can imagine, this is an incredibly difficult time for her family. The cause of death has not been determined.” The 22-year-old woman was on a cross-country trip with her boyfriend Brian Laundrie that began in July in a converted van. However, on September 1, the 23-year-old male returned to his home in Florida alone. Gabby’s family reported her missing on September 11, ten days after Brian returned after they did not hear from her for a number of days. The blogger’s last known location was in Wyoming in late August.

After Gabby was reported missing, authorities seized the van in which the pair was traveling from Brian’s place. However, they could not speak to him directly as his parents directed them to contact their lawyer instead. Eventually, Brian was named a person of interest in the case, but was not pressed with any charges. And, as investigators again started trying to make contact with the man, he also went missing a few days later.

Is Brian Laundrie's brother a cop?

Soon after the FBI said the found body that was believed to be of Gabby, her father, Joseph, posted a photo of her on Twitter. His emotional post showed the young woman happily posing in front of wings designed on a wall. The caption read, “💔#GABBYPETITO  she touched the world.”

Brian’s family also released a statement via their attorney after the news broke while the hunt for him is still ongoing. It read, “The news about Gabby Petito is heartbreaking. The Laundrie family prays for Gabby and her family.” But people on Twitter started claiming that Brian is hiding with the help of a possible cousin brother, who they claim is a police officer. There is a cop named Joseph Laundrie in Nassau County, New York and people on the Internet believe that he is Brian’s brother. There is no proof if he is Brian's brother since media reports have only quoted Cassie Laundrie as his sibling.

A user sharing a Facebook link believed to be of Joseph’s page speculated that the man “may be helping Brian on the run”. The second one posted a link to an article and wrote, “Here is article of Joseph Laundrie, Nassau County PD. Cousin if Brian Laundrie. Some say the police connection is why Florida PD may have been lenient on Brian but that's what some chatter is.” “It has been talked about for days on SM but news agencies seem to ignore it. Mainstream news doesn’t like upsetting LE. It sure would explain why Brian knew what to do after committing murder wouldn’t it? Joseph Laundrie Nassau PD supposedly,” the third user added.

However, these are just insinuations made on social media and none of these reports are confirmed by the family or the police themselves.

A tweet read, “Hey is Brian’s brother a officer and perhaps why Roberta and Christopher Laundrie getting away with the games their playing?!” “Someone said Brian's brother is a cop. I am not sure if that's true or not but it would be safe to say the family helped delay any investigation,” a person noted.
