LAST trace from Kiely Rodni's phone reveal she was near Prosser Lake just before she disappeared: Investigators

Emergency rescue personnel have been deployed day after day at the said lake, where the deepest point is about 57 feet and visibility is challenging

TRUCKEE, CALIFORNIA: Authorities are still struggling to find actionable clues in the mysterious disappearance of 16-year-old Kiely Rodni. Another recent lead turned into another dead end after the FBI spent a day carefully digging up a "potential burial site" near Prosser Lake that was ultimately found to contain a dog's body.

Law enforcement has so far received over 1,200 tips so far but have failed to uncover any leads that could bring them closer to finding the missing teen. The Truckee girl has been missing for more than a week after vanishing from a campground party on August 6. The latest updates in the multi-agency search effort were shared at a press conference on Saturday, August 13.

"Yesterday there was a potential burial site that was located near the [Prosser Family] campground," Placer County Sheriff's Office public information officer Angela Musallam said at the presser. "It was located by a search-and-rescue ground team. Kiely's family was notified of the potential development. The FBI responded to secure the scene yesterday and was accompanied by the Placer and Nevada county sheriff's offices. The FBI agents investigated the site through early this morning and recovered the remains of a dog," she explained.

Meanwhile, Captain Sam Brown of the Nevada County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the last known ping from Kiely's cellphone was around 12.30 am on August 6, the night she went missing from an end-of-school party with over 200 to 300 teens and young adults at the Prosser Family Campground in Truckee. Her mother Lindsey Rodni-Nieman said she received a final text from her daughter that she would be "straight home" in about 45 minutes. This was after a friend had said Kiely had planned to spend the night at the campground as she was too intoxicated to drive herself home.

According to Brown, the last ping from her cellphone was near Prosser Lake, a manmade reservoir that surrounds the campground. However, he admitted that it was possible that the phone continued to ping after 12.30 am due to lost data. "The ping for the data points was near the water. It's hard to tell an exact pinpoint," Brown said. "Just as much on land as it was on water." He added, "Just because it was last pinged there, that doesn't mean that's where the phone stopped pinging. There's lots of reasons why those notifications or data points could be lost."

Kiely Rodni was last seen just after midnight on August 6 near the Prosser Family Campground, located about 10 minutes north of Truckee. Her SUV, a silver 2013 Honda CRV with the California license plate 8YUR127, is also missing, and her phone has been "out of service" since she disappeared. Authorities are treating the case as a possible abduction considering the vehicle's whereabouts are still unknown. The 16-year-old was wearing a black bodysuit and dark green Dickies pants, as confirmed by footage captured by a local business' surveillance camera at 6:08 pm on August 5, just hours before she was headed to the campground party. Police described Kiely as 5-foot-7 and 115 pounds with blonde hair, hazel eyes, and a nose ring. She reportedly has multiple piercings and a tattoo of the number 17 on her ribs. Her family runs the Lost Trail Lodge in Truckee, which is about a 12-mile drive from the Prosser campground.
