NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former President Donald Trump appeared to threaten cable channel MSNBC on Tuesday for its “constant attacks” on him, and has called on the government to “make them pay” for their criticism of him. Trump did so when he took to Truth Social to express his thoughts against MSNBC.

A few hours after Trump’s statement against the channel, MSNBC responded, as news anchor Chris Hayes took over the channel to address the remarks made by Trump. In addition, MSNBC viewers have stood by the channel after this “rant” by the former President.

Chris Hayes addresses Donald Trump’s remarks

MSNBC anchor Chris Hayes took over the channel, as part of the ‘All in with Chris Hayes’ show to address the post written by former President Donald Trump on Tuesday night.

Hayes said, “Last night, you might be shocked to learn, shows here on this network, MSNBC, cover the many legal threats Donald Trump faces and the dangers he poses to democracy. We on this show cover both those topics across three segments.”

He continued, “Now, it's hard to say what exactly triggered the ex-president last night, but clearly something he saw or heard prompted Trump to do what he always does: rant angrily on social media.”

Trump’s Truth Social post was then displayed on the screen and Hayes said,  “This was his post in which he attacks MSNBC. He misunderstands the difference between broadcast and cable, attacks the CEO of our parent company, and then veers into this quote, ‘our so-called government should come down on hard on them and make them pay for the illegal political activity. Much more to come, watch.’”

Chris Hayes talks about the former President’s ‘intent’

“Now, these attacks are not new territory for Trump. It's easy to get bored with his whining. I certainly am. But I will say, again, in the theme of our coverage here so far, as we head into this election, take this seriously,” said Chris Hayes as he continued to address the Truth Social post by Donald Trump.

The MSNBC anchor also added, “He's telling you what he wants to do. He's a man who wants to take power back, telling you what his policy on news organizations he doesn't like. He is very clear with his intent.”

Internet reacts to Donald Trump’s ‘rant’ against MSNBC

After Chris Hayes addressed the remarks made by Donald Trump against the channel, the internet was quick to respond.

One user wrote, “You know if Trump is attacking you, it means you are doing the most just thing you can be doing,” and another wrote, “Imagine being a Trump supporter in 2023. I mean imagine being one ever, but especially in 2023.”

“At this point, coverage of Donald Trump's criminality is no different from a public health warning,” a third person joked. Another also noted, “The more Trump is cornered, the louder and more obnoxious he's going to get.”
