'WTF is going on?': Internet in shock after THIRD California mass shooting in 3 days kills 1, injures 7

OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA: One person was killed and seven others were injured in Oakland, California, just hours after at least seven people were gunned down in Half Moon Bay, about 40 miles away. With the Oakland shooting marking the third such incident in California in the past three days, the Internet has erupted in anger with several expressing that the state "is broken."

On January 23, seven people were killed in a mass shooting at two separate locations in Half Moon Bay, California. Hours later, at around 6 pm local time, the Oakland Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 5900 block of MacArthur Boulevard. On reaching there, they were informed that eight people had been shot at, of which one had died. As per the latest information, the condition of the other seven victims was stable.

Commenting on the third mass shooting in the state in three days, and a second within a span of a few hours, a Twitter user wrote: "Just another day in the USA where I leave the farm in Half Moon Bay after a long day’s work to news of a mass shooting with 7 people dead to arrive in Oakland to news of 3 people shot down the street while making a music video. This place is broken." Earlier, on January 21, eleven people died in a mass shooting during Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations at a dance club in Monterey Park, near Los Angeles.

The Oakland Police Department informed in a tweet that they are investigating the shooting "that occurred on January 23, 2023, in the 5900 block of Macarthur Blvd, just after 6:00 PM." Commenting on the post, a user wrote, "There is something wrong happening! This isn’t normal and this is near half moon bay! I’m just saying if this is another Asian white there is something suspicious happening. Or this could be an isolated incident too." Another user expressed their shock by exclaiming, "WTAF is going on?!?" A third user, sharing a news article about the shooting, axclaimed, "JESUS CHRIST!!!! WHAT'S HAPPENING?! 8 shot in Oakland, one fatally, in California's 3rd mass shooting in 3 days."
