Internet calls out Kanye West as rapper launches sock shoes with new $200 Yeezy Pods for women to ditch heels
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kanye West has set himself up as a footwear developer and influencer, but his latest offering may put even his most devoted fashion admirers to the test. On December 28, the struggling billionaire revealed the Yeezy Pods, a $200 sneaker that looks more like a long-sleeve sock than a shoe, and fans are clearly not on board.
The black kicks come in three sizes and have an all-black, one-piece design that extends all the way up to the calf. There's also what appears to be a typical rubber sole that provides some protection and grip.
The Yeezy Pods are currently available for pre-order on the Yeezy website, although it's unclear when they'll be delivered.
On his Instagram account, fans wrote, "kanye i am NOT buying 200 dollar socks." While one quipped, "I know ninja boots when I see ‘em."
One user also wrote, "Adidas dodged a bullet." A fourth user noted, "We love you Ye! But Ain’t nobody buying that ugly shit 😂."
One user also commented, "Ima assume this is another social experiment and you're gonna drop another rant about that time you were instantly canceled for selling socks after apologizing (but timing is weird fr)." Others joked, "He Just turned into the Auntie that Brings you Socks for Christmas... instead of Money.. 😑😑🤣🤣."
On another viral Instagram post, people commented, "Judging by how he dresses his concubine, I wouldn’t go anywhere near his women’s clothing. He thinks stockings are a whole outfit." "Nope. Not today satan," wrote another.

What happened between Adidas and Kanye West?
Kanye's first shoe released after his lucrative Adidas contract ended in October 2022 due to the rapper's antisemitic remarks is the Yeezy Pods.
"Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech," the sportswear behemoth announced at the time.
"Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful, and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness."
"After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products, and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. Adidas will stop the Adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect."
Subsequently, the corporation reversed course on that final point, selling off its Yeezy shoe inventory and making hundreds of millions of dollars, some of which were donated to anti-discrimination groups.
What business does Kanye West own?

What is Kanye West's net worth?
Kanye's net worth has failed to recover from its peak of $1.5 billion, with Forbes now estimating him to be worth roughly $400 million. After making anti-Semitic remarks, the entrepreneur and musician lost his lucrative multi-year contract with Adidas to develop the shoe brand Yeezy.
Gap, CAA, and Balenciaga are among the other businesses and corporations that have severed connections with West, who has legally changed his name to Ye. Forbes estimated the Adidas acquisition to be worth $1.5 billion. Kanye's worth shrinks to $400 million without it.
Cash, real estate, the value of his music collection, and a 5% ownership stake in his ex-wife Kim Kardashian's shapewear firm Skims comprise his present wealth.
