A solo traveler on a flight revealed she made a 5-year-old child move out of her paid window seat and that other passengers gave her "different looks." The unidentified woman claimed to have booked her ticket two days beforehand and to have paid an extra $20 for a window seat for her four-hour journey.

She took to Reddit's AITA? (Am I the a**hole?) forum to elaborate on the scenario, with the subject, 'AITA for not giving my window seat to child?' "Ok, so I posted this in a childfree group, and they were all on my side, but I would actually like to hear opinions from parents if that is ok," she began the post.

What did the Redditor say?

The unnamed woman wrote in her post, "I have heard of this before happening to other people, and now it was apparently my turn. I have booked a window seat on my 4 hour flight. It is very important to me to sit at the window, as I get otherwise easily panicked if I cannot look out of the window at times. This cost me extra 20 dollars." While boarding, she noticed a child around the age of five sitting in her seat, with the mother in the middle. She claimed she respectfully informed the mother that she had the window seat booked. "You can sit here please," she said pointing to the aisle seat.

'She wanted to save money, well not my problem'

The poster went on and wrote, "I said that I want to have my seat that I paid for, and she just said that he daughter wants to sit at the window." Then the woman asked the mother why she hadn't reserved a window spot if she knew her daughter wanted to sit by the window. The mother allegedly said, "There was no window seat available anymore when I booked." The Redditor continued, "Then I called her bs, I have only booked my flight 2 days prior and there were still a bunch of window seats left! Then she admitted that she wanted to save the money, well not my problem."

'It was so annoying!'

After a bit of back and forth, the mother told her daughter to move to the middle, after which she took the aisle seat. "People around gave me different looks. Some looked at me discussed, another showed me a thumbs up. During the flight, the child basically climbed on me to look outside, it was soooo annoying!!!"

'Twenty dollars well spent'

Internet users defended the woman for refusing to give up her plane seat and talked about the circumstances of entitled parents. A user commented, "NTA - and WTF is wrong with entitled parents. Next time fly with candy and Red Bull and promise the daughter a puppy when she gets off the plane." Another user said, "NTA. The mom shouldn’t have been so cheap and expect you to pick up the tab. You paid for the seat so you are absolutely entitled to it… and without the child crawling over in your lap." One mentioned, "Wow I really liked your story and it had such a reasonable and happy ending! Lol." "Twenty dollars well spent," penned another. One noted, "Nope NTA at all. You paid for it, it’s your seat."
