'Ink Master: Turf War': Are Jason Elliott and Jordi Pla to be blamed for Money Mike's elimination?
Money Mike Thornton was eliminated in today's episode of 'Ink Master: Turf War' and it is quite unfortunate. As part of the consistency challenge, in which each team had to work on one canvas at the same time, Mike created a box - sort of a picture frame - that had a silhouette of a man looking at a tornado ripping apart houses. The concept was interesting but the linework was an issue. But was it the only reason he had to close the shop?
Team South had an elaborate design-related discussion before they began working on their canvas. All three of them - Mike, Jason Elliott, and Jordi Pla - were clear that they would make these boxes (just like in comic books) and connect them to tell a story. However, mid-way Jason and Jordi decided to ditch the box. When Jordi asked if Mike should be informed, Jason said keeping one box should be fine.
The box and its outline were what did Mike wrong. "You gave yourself a challenge just by giving that square because a perfect square you do not have," Judge, Oliver Peck critiqued. Chris Nunez added that Mike's major problem was his application techniques because of which the brush strokes are very evident. Jordi and Jason had two very different designs. Independently they were decent, but the cohesiveness wasn't coming through.
Meanwhile, fans have blamed Team South -Jason and Jordi - for Mike's exit from the show. They believe the artists sabotaged Mike's game.
"I didn't know Mike was going home. Jason, I love you but you literally fucked him over with that box shit #InkMaster," a fan wrote, while another shared, "Money Mike team played him tonight. His tat was still jacked though! #InkMaster."
"So Money Mike went home because teammates are trash, and now a face-off is coming up to send a second artist home #InkMaster," a viewer expressed. Another one said, "Man, I'm still stunned about what happened to Money Mike. I really feel like his team sabotaged him. They had a comic theme, and then the other guys just decided to drop it without telling him. That was dirty. #InkMaster #TattoosDay."
