MOSCOW, IDAHO: Moscow Police Chief James Fry said Wednesday, December 28, that the investigation team will release the initial 911 call that alerted them to the guresome murders of the four University of Idaho students. Earlier, it was revealed that the team had received the call on November 13 from an "unconscious person"
According to The Sun, James said, "It will be released when prosecution believes we can release that. That may be at trial, it may be before then." He also added, "But some of that we make a decision as a team of investigators and administration as well as at our prosecutors office. So we want to make sure we hold that until it's okay for the case."

James gave the update after a new image, which appears to show Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen, was leaked from surveillance footage of a bar where the duo hung out just hours before their deaths. The image was released on Tuesday, December 27. It is of the Corner Club, a bar in Moscow, Idaho. The picture shows the two women talking to a bearded man in a baseball cap, and the time stamp indicates that it was taken at 1.32 am on November 13. Meanwhile, more than a month after the killing, the investigative team has been unable to name or identify the suspect, motive or even the weapon used to kill the four students, Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, and Madison Mogen, 21.
Meanwhile, Latah County Coroner Cathy Mabbutt claimed that all the victims of the murder had suffered multiple stab wounds. Further, James also declined to explain on Wednesday anything specific regarding if the 911 call could help detectives make an arrest, reported KREM.
However, the police officers have been receiving extensive criticisms including from the victims parents for being unable to make any significant step in the investigation and there is increased worry regarding the case receiving a cold case status. Steve Goncalves, the father of Kaylee Goncalves, stated, “They’ve messed up a million times. But I don’t get to say that because what experience does Steve have? He doesn’t know. He’s just a dad who woke up one day and had his life turned upside down, reported Fox News Digital. On the other hand, Xana's mother, Cara Northington, said, "There is so much that can be done that has not been done. They haven’t said anything. I learn more on the news and TV than what they do have said to me," reported News Week. Steve also said, “We’re gunna get our justice,” he continued. “We’re gunna figure stuff out. This community deserves that.” Meanwhile, Moscow Police Chief James Fry previously stated to Fox News, "This case is not going cold. We have tips coming in; we have investigators out every day interviewing people. We’re still reviewing evidence; we’re still looking at all aspects of this. I said early on that no stone will go unturned, and I mean that."
