MOSCOW, IDAHO: Police in Idaho are "confident" that the white Hyundai Elantra that was seen close to the scene of the brutal murder of four students holds "key" information in the case. On Thursday, December 15, Moscow Police Captain Roger Lanier reportedly stated that they are searching through a database of 22,000 white Hyundai Elantras with matching registrations.
Lanier emphasized that the public still needed to help the police, adding that the 22,000 white Elantras in the region "may not be all." "Maybe one of your neighbors has one in the garage they don't drive that often. Maybe there's one that's just not on the registration database," the captain said, according to Daily Mail. "Let us know," he added. Police reportedly took surveillance footage from a liquor store as they continue to search for the occupant of a white car seen near where four University of Idaho students, Madison Mogen, 21, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Kernodle's boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, 20 were murdered in November.

On December 7, police released the crucial information that they were trying to contact the driver or drivers of a white 2011-2013 Hyundai Elantra that they claimed was in the "immediate area" of the victims' home on November 13, the day of the killings, as per ABC News. Kaylee's devastated parents, Kristi Goncalves and Steven Goncalves, pleaded with nearby businesses on Thursday to go through camera footage.
Since time is of the essence, and Tuesday, December 13, marked one month since their daughter's horrifying murder, they voiced significant anxiety that they could lose crucial evidence. They are advising nearby businesses to go through camera footage for additional hints.
Kristi told GMA that there is "a 24-hour mark on a lot of those little video cams, there's a seven-day, a one month." "We're hitting the month [mark]." Kaylee's father, Steven said. "If the key part of the evidence is outside that [time frame], then we have to get it now."

Kristi called her daughter's killer(s) "methodical," as per Daily Mail. "I think he really thought it out. I think he was quick, I think it was quiet. And he got in and he got out," Kristi said. The family of Kernodle has been attempting to generate their own leads by distributing flyers among locals and on the University of Idaho campus. The family claims that their objective is to distribute 5,000 flyers.
