MOSCOW, IDAHO: Amid speculations surrounding the grisly murders of the four University of Idaho students, the abandoned White car which the police had been alerted was located in Eugene, Oregon. The vehicle found is similar to the one the Moscow Police Department has been looking for.
Web sleuths shared pictures of a white car found in Oregon, similar to the images posted by cops. The officers 'believe' the possibility that the car's occupants may have information that can be a turning point in the investigation of the horrifying murders of the Idaho students, reports Newsweek. Eugene police called the Moscow officials to alert them to the car, which was badly damaged and had no license plates, according to New York Post. The Eugene Police Department told Fox News that a 911 call on December 17 reported a person sleeping inside the car. Officers made contact with the occupant, who was later revealed to be a homeless individual and not the car owner, said police.

The Moscow Police Department shared a post on December 16 that wrote: "Investigators continue to ask the public for additional help in searching for a white 2011-2013 Hyundai Elantra in the immediate area of the King Road residence during the early morning hours of November 13th. Investigators believe the occupant(s) of this vehicle may have critical information to share regarding this case," seeking help from the public to locate the white 2011-2013 Hyundai Elantra which was seen near the scene of the homicide on the day of the killings of Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Ethan Chapin, 20, and Xana Kernodle, 20 on November 13.
According to Newsweek, a Eugene Police Department spokesperson told on the night of Monday, December 19, that the cops are "aware of the abandoned vehicle and have sent its information to Moscow." and informed that the vehicle was reported to the officers at 5.19 am on December 17 at W. 7th Place and Seneca Road. "Investigators are aware of the vehicle and are currently working on it," the spokesperson said on December 20.
Seeking help from the community on providing the investigators with supportive information or leads, the Moscow police probe is still in progress. Information about the white car is among the biggest possible shreds of evidence in the murder case. Other than the car, a weapon that was used to stab the students as the cops believe has not been discovered yet.
MEAWW previously reported that on the investigation, the officers believe that a "fixed-blade knife" was used by the murderer to stab the students, and based on this, the investigators have been speaking to local store owners about whether they have lately seen anyone purchasing the type of blade they suspect.
Talking about the abandoned car found in Oregon, a former law enforcement official and founder of the American Investigative Society of Cold Cases (AISOCC) Kenneth Mains said "If it is the car in question, a quick check of the VIN number will give the investigators their biggest lead. Even if it would come back as stolen, at least that would give you a starting point in tracking down a suspect or potential witness," as per Newsweek report.
