'American Idol' Season 19 Top 5 Full List: Hunter Metts and Arthur Gunn likely to go home as others advance
'American Idol' has reached its Top 5 stage and at the end of Sunday (May 9) night, two musical artists from the Top 7 lineup will say goodbye to the stage. Hunter Metts and Arthur Gunn are likely going to end up going home, more about that in a bit.
With the competition being as stiff as ever, three of this season's greats - Alyssa Wray, Cassandra Coleman, and DeShawn Goncalves were eliminated last week. Judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan at some point told all three of them that they could win but the audiences felt otherwise resulting in their elimination.

Chayce Beckham, Willie Spence, Grace Kinstler, Caleb Kennedy, Arthur Gunn, Casey Bishop, and Hunter Metts advanced to the Top 7 last week. There was some outrage amongst audiences especially when wildcard contestant Gunn went ahead in the competition but the man has got his fans which explains everything.
Every contestant who makes it to the Top 24 has a sizable fandom backing them up. Season 19 truly outdid the past ones in terms of talent. There are so many singer-songwriters who are still thriving (Beckham and Kennedy), there are some who are always praised by all for their vocal styling (Gunn and Metts), then there's Bishop bringing rock music back and she's doing it pretty well at 16 years of age, Spence with the Godly voice and Kinstler who just brings it every time with her fierceness.
But like they say the show must go on and it will. However, two of them will have to leave the competition at this point and the odds are not in the favor of Metts and Gunn and it's likely that they'll be going home at the end of this Mother's Day and Coldplay themed episode. Casey Bishop, Willie Spence, Chase Beckham, Grace Kinstler, and Caleb Kennedy will most likely form the Top 5.
A few weeks ago Metts messed up his 'Falling Slowly' performance which left him rattled and couldn't hold back his tears. It took a lot of assurance from the judges for him to gather himself and he did get a lot of virtual love from fans as well. However, some trolled him saying he was fishing for votes and these fans have been wanting to see him out of the competition ever since.
Arthur Gunn does have an army of fans backing him, this is the reason he beat nine other wildcard contestants and made it to the Season 19 lineup. However, there is a section of audiences that believe last year contestants don't deserve a spot in the competition, not at the cost of OG contestants being sent home. This is what happened last week after Wray, Coleman, and Goncalves were sent home. Gunn ended up being trolled on Twitter aggressively and this might affect his votes this week.
Whether Metts and Gunn end up going home or continue in the competition, we will know only in the last 5 minutes of the hour-long show on May 9. In the meanwhile, let us know in the comments who you feel would make the Top 5
