Huge fire breaks out at New York nursing home, many feared trapped as roof collapses after 'massive explosion'

There have been no reports on the exact number of people hurt or trapped inside, but rescuers are seemingly doing their best to stop the fire based on the videos posted online

A fire has broken out in a nursing home in upstate New York, Spring Valley, and multiple people are trapped inside, as per reports. The Evergreen Nursing Home's roof has collapsed and fire and rescue have already made it to the scene along with the New York Fire Department and Hatzolah. As per Jewish media outlet Belaaz, there was a "massive explosion" and "several injuries" have been reported.

Belaaz took to Twitter to post a video of the incident writing, "DEVELOPING: Large fire on Lafayette St in Spring Valley, NY. Fire Department and Hatzolah are on scene with reports of trapped people inside." Raws Alerts media tweeted that an unidentified firefighter has also gone missing, "#BREAKING ROOF COLLAPSE just happened moments ago  #rockland #NY At a nursing home where firefighters are battling a huge fire Reports of a missing firefighter at this moment as you can see a plume of smoke from the roof collapse #Rockland, #NY #newyork #fire." Furthermore, Buff Rockland also posted the developing news with videos as well.



 



 



 

For now, this is a developing story, and many on the scene have taken to social media to report on the incident. There have been no reports on the exact number of people hurt or trapped inside, but rescuers are seemingly doing their best to stop the fire based on the videos posted on Twitter. Buff Rockland also reported, "Mahwah NJ to the scene, Evacuating all fire fighters from the building."

They further added an update that the building has collapsed. The specific cause has yet to be reported officially. As per the Twitter thread, there are a lot of fire department personnel on the scene, along with "FDNY with Merv from Queens, Conditions Boss from Bronx, Yonkers Esu assembling a mci bus from Yonkers." Firefighters in the videos can be seen desperately trying to stop the spread of the fire.
