‘How To Get Away With Murder’ Season 6 Episode 9 hints at darker times and possibly a tragic end to story of Annalise and K5

The fall finale episode was an upheaval from what season 6 has offered us so far. From revealing Asher’s secret to Annalise escaping scene, and Oliver nearly killing Asher, every character sees a turnaround and proves that things will only get worse and end their journey on a tragic note.

ABC’s hit legal drama-thriller series is going on a fall break. But before it left us hanging for the next five months, Episode 9 ended with a big bang. Throughout the last eight episodes of Season 6, we have been given enough flash-forwards, hinting at what could possibly ensue in the lives of Connor, Michaela, Oliver, Asher, and Annalise. And all the breadcrumbs finally culminated into a wholesome mini-climax of a sort in the fall finale episode.

On the eve of their graduation, while K4 were contemplating their imminent fate in the hands of FBI, Asher revealed that he had been the informant. Shocked and disturbed, Oliver hits him hard enough to cause a severe head injury. Asher escapes and seeks refuge at Bonnie’s, a glimpse of which we had seen in an earlier episode.

Next, we see Annalise and Nate confronting at her apartment, when she is about to leave town and escape, only to save herself from what could be coming. At that moment, it appeared that Nate might get killed as we had speculated earlier, but it only ends with an ugly argument between him and Annalise. Another flash-forward that we had seen earlier comes to light again and we find Connor getting a heart attack while he is in police custody.

However, each of these developments is merely the tip of the iceberg that would most likely break the ship of the ‘family’ and make hell break loose. A quick flash forward to Annalise’s funeral (which will probably be the end of it all) shows a glimpse of Wes, back from the dead. Now, as classic to HTGAWM’s style of storytelling, we know well enough by now, that nothing happens without a reason and no character is brought back for a mere cameo. Looks like Wes Gibbons is here to stay.

Now, how did he come back and for what purpose is something that the series’ climax episodes will reveal. But for now, where the plot stands, such developments definitely don’t prove to be positive and can mean dangerous times ahead for Annalise or her students.

‘How To Get Away With Murder’ will be back after its fall break, in April 2020, only on ABC.
