How Natalia Grace met the Mans after previous adoptive family left 'sociopath' alone for a year
LAFAYETTE, INDIANA: Natalia Grace met her new adoptive parents Anton and Cynthia Mans a year after she was left alone at her apartment in Indiana. Natalia, who has a form of dwarfism and is accused of being a 22-year adult which she vehemently denies. Her former adoptive parent Michael and Kristine Barnett alleged her to be a "sociopath" and "con artist" two years after adopting her in 2010.
She is also accused of putting Barnett's family along with their biological children at high risk. Apparently, before she left the apartment and flew off to Canada, Barnett's convinced the Marion County Superior Court to ‘correct’ Natalia’s age from 2003 to 1989.

'We were told by doctors, 'This person is a sociopath'
Even though the charges against the pair were eventually dropped, however 'The Curious Case of Natalia Grace' a docuseries examining the case has brought it again under the spotlight. The series which begins on May 29, will be airing for three consecutive nights. "We were told by doctors, 'This person is a sociopath. This person is a con artist. You are all in danger,'" said Michael in 'Good Morning America'. Prior to leaving for Canada, Barnetts had reportedly paid a one-year's rent for Natalia's Lafayette apartments.
Barnett's claim in court documents as per Journal & Courier, that after they changed Natalia's birth year, they got her an apartment in Hamilton County, and got her federal disability benefits and social services. One report citing court records says that when Natalia's lease expired she hobbled down the street and knocked on a door. That was when she met Anton and Cynthia Mans through a stranger who welcomed her inside.
Cynthia grew close to her and they become friends
She claimed Cynthia grew close to her and they become friends, as reported by OkayBliss. A few days later, she moved in as Antwon and Cynthia's tenant for $250 a month. Later, Antwon and Cynthia ultimately adopted Natalia. In 2016, Antwon and Cynthia applied for Natalia's legal guardianship. However, they were met with legal challenges and had to drop the guardianship petition although they continue to take care of her besides their biological five children.
'There's nothing crazy going on or anything'
According to a media report, one of her friend said, "The Mans care for Natalia and she likes being there. There's nothing crazy going on or anything. These are good people. They've already tried to speak to Natalia's adoptive parents and tried to go through the courts. They are just not getting anywhere and now this is escalating. She is just in a really awkward position and they are trying to help her out. There are actually very limited things they can do for her because people are saying she's 30. She can't even go to high school."
