How much cash prize did Tolu Ekundare win? 'The Trust: A Game of Greed' contestant accepts extra $25K offer by 'betraying' group
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, CARIBBEAN: 'The Trust: A Game of Greed' Season 1 contestant Tolu Ekundare bagged a huge cash prize in the Netflix show finale. She made her parents proud by winning the $73,600 prize. However, Tolu seemed to betray her co-players by taking an additional $25,000 from the prize pot.
Just ahead of the finale, the contestants were asked to individually arrive in the Vault for the last time to decide if they wanted to accept the last tempting offer or continue their loyalty to share their prize.
Notably, this was the first as well as the last time for Tolu in the Vault, and she accepted the offer which said, "Name an amount up to $25,000 that you would like to take from the Trust. If you bid the highest number it's yours to keep."
Tolu explained her decision and noted that other co-players had previously earned an additional amount and now it was her turn.
Tolu also revealed that she came from a background where people hardly afford diapers and adding $25K would make her parents proud. Surprisingly, Tolu lied to her cast mates about taking the offer. During the finale, Netflix show players were left stunned when host Brooke Baldwin revealed the total amount of trust, which was $268,000 before the final trust ceremony.
Brooke revealed that the current trust amount was $243,000 hinting that someone had taken the offer. Although the host didn't reveal who accepted the offer, Tolu's co-players Julie Theis, Jake Chocolous, Gaspare Randazzo and Brian Firebaugh felt betrayed.
'The Trust: A Game of Greed' contestant Tolu Ekundare fears elimination
In the previous episode of 'The Trust: A Game of Greed', Tolu Ekundare was on the verge of getting eliminated. However, she decided to not trust anyone in the villa and play by her own rules.
She accepted the tempting offer during the last Trust ceremony and noted, "No amount of promises that I've made to this group would make me break the first promise I made to my parents. I wanna hope that If I told that the truth, they would understand."
However, she further noted, "But that's not a risk that I'm willing to take."
Tolu admitted she was afraid that she could be eliminated if her co-players found out that she had accepted the offer.
Tolu shared, "This is going to be the hardest secret to keep cause if they get any inkling that I'm lying I could be cut out of the Trust and I could miss out on my share of the remaining $242,000."
Tolu Ekundare accused of playing a 'victim'
'The Trust: A Game of Greed' contestant Tolu Ekundare sparked backlash for allegedly playing the victim in the villa. During the first Trust ceremony, Juelz and Simone were sent to the Vault.
The duo decided to take the offer that allowed them to add five grand to the cash prize. But it needed them to block two people from voting, one of whom was Tolu. The contestant was definitely not happy with the decision and conspired with her allies to have Juelz voted off on her behalf.
Tolu later showed that she had nothing to do with Juelz's elimination which made the viewers accuse her of 'manipulation'.
'The Trust: A Game of Greed' Season 1 is now available to stream on Netflix.
