On May 19, the defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard saw Ellen Barkin’s taped testimony. The 68-year-old actress gave a detailed timeline of her past relationship with Depp in a pre-recorded deposition and accused the 58-year-old actor of being a “jealous” man.

According to Barkin, she and Depp became friends in 1990 but ultimately, they got into a relationship, which was more of sexual nature than the romantic one in 1994. She reportedly said their “romance” lasted about 3-5 months and she “never heard from him again,” before also claiming that they “were romantically involved” when they worked together in the 1998 film ‘Fear & Loathing.’ The film was shot on location in Las Vegas from August 3, 1997, and lasted 56 days.

Elsewhere, ‘The Big Easy’ star’s testimony included allegations, like Depp “was drunk all the, most, a lot of the time.” She mentioned a violent incident involving the ‘Edward Scissorhands’ star, while saying: “Yes. Mr Depp threw a wine bottle across the hotel room in one instance, in Las Vegas while shooting Fear and Loathing. A fight was going on, between Johnny Depp and his friends in the room, the assistant.” But she noted that no person got hurt.

Barkin also added that the ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ star was “just a jealous man, controlling, where are you going, who are you going with. What did you do last night. I had a scratch on my back once that got him very, very angry because he insisted it came from having sex with a person who wasn't him.”

But what attracted people’s attention most in Barkin’s testimony was the timeline of her relationship with Depp. A user tweeted, “Ellen Barkin testimony: ‘we met in 1990, the friendship lasted 10 years. Another person noted, “That doesn’t seem to add up unless she’s implying JD cheated on Kate [Moss]. JD & Kate were still together when he started filming Fear & Loathing. They had broken up by the time the film released, but she still went to the film’s premiere with him as friends. I assumed that..” The second one said, “EB was some kind of rebound for Kate.
