Soon after he signed a contract with 'LAX 2194', the news of a new pilot, ‘Friends’ stirred in the industry. Perry wanted to get acquainted with the show; all of his friends were auditioning for the show, but he couldn’t because of the contract. The show’s producers offered the role of Chandler to Perry’s friend, Craig Bierko, which he rejected because “he wanted to be the star of a show, not a part of the cast.”

After Craig, the makers had another person in mind to play Chandler Bing. The star of 'Two & A Half Men', Jon Cryer, sent a tape of himself performing as Chandler. Unfortunately, the tape never made it to the network executives, giving Perry a chance. Perry prayed for the first time, asking God to make him famous. Luckily, 'LAX 2194' got canceled, and hope landed in Perry’s luck, allowing him to freely audition for ‘Friends'. After three weeks, he got the role of Chandler and became one of the most loved characters.
