Contains spoilers and speculation for 'House of the Dragon' Season 2
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 Episode 7 aired on HBO on Sunday, July 28. The high-octane episode delivered a captivating twist in the battle for the Iron Throne, as the Blacks appeared to discover a potential path to victory in the Civil War.
Not long ago, the Greens seemed unbeatable, with Vhagar crushing any opposition from the Blacks’ forces. After Rook’s Rest battle, it appeared that the Greens were on the path to inevitable victory in the Civil War.
However, as the season nears its conclusion, the Blacks have discovered a potential strategy to turn the tide of the war. Here’s what we anticipate might happen for the Blacks in the final episode.
Will Queen Rhaenyra take King's Landing in 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 Episode 8?
In Episode 7 of 'House of the Dragon' Season 2, Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) demonstrated immense bravery, willing to sacrifice many lives in her pursuit of the Dragonseeds who could ride the unclaimed dragons.
As per 'Fire & Blood', Rhaenyra’s courageous decision is expected to bear fruit in Episode 8, where she is poised to seize the throne from the Greens.
In the book, Rhaenyra, alongside her new Dragonriders Hugh (Kieran Bew), Ulf (Tom Bennett), and Adamm of Hull (Clinton Liberty), will journey to King’s Landing.
In the book, there is a fourth Dragonrider named Nettles who rides the dragon Sheepstealer. Rhaena Targaryen (Phoebe Campbell) will likely take the role of Sheepstealer’s rider in the show, given the evidence of the dragon’s presence in the Vale.
Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell) and Criston Cole (Fabian Frankel), the key decision-makers for the Greens, will travel to the Riverlands, only to find an empty castle awaiting them at Harrenhal.
Meanwhile, Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) will outmaneuver them, leaving King’s Landing vulnerable to the Blacks.
If the book is accurate, this will only be a temporary victory for the Blacks. The Greens are expected to retaliate fiercely, with Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) and the Triarchy breaking the Blockade of Gullet.
With Daeron and Tessarion entering the fray, and an enraged Aemond still commanding Vhagar, the Blacks will face a formidable challenge in maintaining control of King’s Landing.
The conclusion of the next episode may foreshadow these events for the third season.
