'Hospital Playlist' Episode 6: Lee Ik-jun chooses Song-hwa over Go Ara and we cannot wait to see what happens
'Hospital Playlist', in episode 6 continues to expand further on the lives of Lee Ik-jun (Cho Jung-seok), Ahn Jeong-won (Yoo Yeon-seok), Kim Jun-wan (Jung Kyoung-ho), Yeong Seok-hyeon (Kim Dae-myung), and Chae Song-hwa (Jeon Mi-do).
Little by little we learn more about each of these doctors and this week the funniest incident to occur is Ik-jun's misunderstanding about his sister's dating life. He believes that Ik-sun is dating the guy who used to work with her in the Military Academy but is now a doctor who works under Song-hwa. In reality, Ik-jun's best friend Jun-wan is the one who is pursuing Ik-sun and this causes Jun-wan to lose his temper and he ends up using Ik-jun's head to crack a boiled egg (no kidding).
The scene leaves us in splits and as this scenario between Jun-wan and Ik-sun plays out, we forget all about Song-hwa's medical condition. Is it really breast cancer? That is the question that we cannot wait to see answered but before we get there, we see the five doctors go about their lives. For instance, Ik-jun has the time of his life cooking from scratch for his young son. He tries to make ketchup from scratch, and also successfully makes meatballs but when he hears U-jin say he wants jjajangmyeon, he loses it. All that work going to waste is not easy to handle. His ex-girlfriend Go Ara has also been making his days interesting after she meets him to treat her father.
We also see how Seok-hyeon is being hit on by his resident, who tries to find out who the woman in a one-piece lace dress is. Instead, she gets shocked when he says that the woman is the mistress of his father and he just continues to eat his lunch as if this question wasn't awkward at all. In the meanwhile, Jeong-won is still clueless about a resident General Surgery doctor being in love with him.
Finally, Song-hwa builds enough courage to let her friends know that she is waiting for a biopsy result which might be bad news for her health. All of her friends express shock and are also worried for her. They also wonder why she did not tell them about this until now and even try to find the results earlier for her but Song-hwa says that she wants to find the result by herself and would prefer if she were to do it by herself. While every one of her friends expresses shock, it is only Ik-jun who seems unperturbed and he even ends up leaving the dinner meeting early because of an emergency call.
Instead, he ends up waiting for her at the hospital to be with her when she collects the results. His decision to wait for her also indicates Ik-jun's interest in her because the alternative was to go grab a coffee with Go Ara at her shooting spot. This teases romance that is yet to be explored in the show.
And in the blast from the past section of the episode, we see how Ik-jun and Jun-wan arrived in Seoul the first time around. It also features the first time that Ik-jun met Song-hwa and the time when Seong-hyeok had been rejected by Song-hwa. It looks like Seong-hyeok's interest in her stopped Ik-jun from telling her something important on the same day that his friend confessed to Song-hwa.
