On December 12, Erin posted cute photos of the married couple with an equally cute caption. She wrote detailing their initial courting, “The night after our first kiss, I had one last obligation to Charlie: a work Christmas party we had agreed to go to together. The first time people saw us out and about and I knew it was the end. We had only been on a few dates, and nothing was exclusive, but I thanked him for taking me when he dropped me off at the dorm and I think he knew. And we left it there.” The HGTV star continued, “A short while later @scotsman.co picked me up and we went driving looking for Christmas lights—ending at Mason Park in Laurel,” adding, “A tradition we’ve kept doing with our girls, and every year before they were born too on our “love week.””
The ‘Home Town’ star further elaborated on the pair’s ultra-sweet outing stating, “The next day I had to work a 12 hour shift at the hospital but he was waiting for me at the door when I swiped my badge to clock out. We went to Walmart to buy gift wrap, and chose the longest line to stand in and flirt for as long as possible before going to my parents’ house where he would meet my daddy.” She even recalled how Ben and her father struck an immediate friendship, penning, “After 5 days of knowing each other. They had an immediate friendship like I had never imagined and had certainly never seen. Daddy trusted him, but even better: he liked him. Mama had already met him and approved on day 3!”
Erin even revealed the details of the duo’s first “I love you’s” and wrote, “By December 13, we had been inseparable for 6 days. In the driveway of his decrepit old grey house, he told me “I think I’m falling in love with you.” I said “I think I’m falling in love with you too.” She said that of all the many girls Ben had dated before, he’d never been in love. She added that Ben had predicted he would marry her in the future, writing, “He told me he was going to marry me one day. I said I’d like that very much.” The HGTV star also revealed the bombshell that she skipped out on Savannah College of Art for her husband. She said, “These are pictures of us after knowing each other for 12 days before saying goodbye for a month of Christmas break, a week before I applied to Ole Miss and cancelled my future at Savannah College of Art because wherever he went, I would go too.”
In response, Ben also posted his version of the story, accompanied by an image of Erin with their baby daughter. He wrote in his message, “We hung out for the first time on Tuesday, December 7, 2004. We went on our first date on Thursday, December 9,” recalling the pair’s first date. He added he knew he wanted to marry Erin days later, penning, and said he "was scared to say those words and scare her off." He wrote, "So, I waited 2 more days till Monday, December 13, because that’s more reasonable.”
Ben also noted their changed celebrations after starting their family, writing, “It is harder for us to celebrate now." Writing that their daughters are "fussy." He revealed, "We took the girls to look at the lights in the park with us but they were fussy. We went on a date, but had to make it a short one to relieve the baby sitter.” He also added how the girls keep disrupting their plans by writing, “We went to Sonic for mozzarella sticks, but Mae wanted to eat them, and we were afraid she would choke so she melted down.” He continued, “This picture is from December 10, 2018, our first love week as parents. Being a daddy with @erinapier is the best thing to come out of all of this.”
