TEMPLE, TEXAS: A Hitchhiker has been arrested and charged by police for stabbing a man, who picked him up at a Taco Bell, according to reports.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by KWTX, 31-year-old Justin Glen Boswell has been charged by Texas police for stabbing 25-year-old Rowdy Mays in Temple. The Temple Police responded at around 6:15 pm on July 28 to the 2600 block of South Martin Luther King Jr Drive, where they found Mays with several stab wounds on his neck and body. The heavily wounded body of the victim was transported to Baylor Scott & White Temple, where he was declared dead by the officials. Mays is survived by his mother, father, two sisters, and two brothers, according to his obituary, which also highlighted his generous spirit.

A witness reportedly told officials she stopped on the roadway after she spotted heavily wound Mays crawling on the road. She also revealed that Mays told her he was stabbed by a hitchhiker, whom he picked up from a Taco Bell. The witness reportedly saw the hitchhiker fleeing the scene in the truck and described the suspect to police as a white man with reddish blonde facial hair.

Mays’ mother later provided the insurance documents to police through which they took out information about the model and license plate of Mays’ truck. As per the arrest affidavit, Police have obtained Mays’ bank statement that suggests he last used his debit card at a Temple Taco Bell. The officials have also found the surveillance footage from the temple taco bell, that shows Mays letting a man get into the bed of his pick-up. The man who entered Mays’ pickup was also seen in surveillance footage buying a drink inside the Taco Bell earlier in the day.

The officials managed to connect the dots after they received reports about a man showing erratic behavior in the area. The officials were connected by a woman who allowed the lunatic man to use her cellphone. Using the information provided by the woman, police contacted the person the man called and confirmed his identity as Boswell, the affidavit states.

Back at Taco Bell, an employee was shown a photo of Boswell and five other individuals with similar physical characteristics and “positively identified the suspect (Boswell) as the individual in the (surveillance) video,” the arrest affidavit states.

Rockdale Police and Milam County deputies found the truck near the east city limits of Rockdale on Friday morning. Boswell was then identified as a suspect, with warrants issued for his arrest. He was found and arrested, then taken to the Bell County Jail.
