Hillary Clinton is standing up for Sanna Marin, the party-loving prime minister of Finland, by recalling her own controversy from her time in office when leaked images of the PM went viral. The defeated Democratic presidential candidate compared the scandal involving the 36-year-old Marin to an old snapshot advising her to "keep dancing" in the face of criticism.

Clinton shared a picture from when she caused a stir for tearing up the dance floor and downing a beer while representing the US ten years prior. "As Ann Richards said, 'Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred Astaire did. She just did it backwards and in high heels,'" Clinton, 74, wrote, quoting the now renowned saying by the late former governor of Texas.

"Here's me in Cartagena while I was there for a meeting as Secretary of State," wrote Clinton along with the photo of her venting in Colombia at the conclusion of the VI Summit of the Americas in 2012. The cheerful former first lady added, "Keep dancing, @marinsanna." More than 179K people swiftly liked her post, including the prime minister of Finland.

Marin responded with a heart emoji and said, "Thank you, @HillaryClinton." One person in favor of the two female leaders wrote, "The world needs more women in positions of power. Men have screwed things up for far too long. It’s time for the kind of change only a woman’s perspective can deliver. Keep dancing, @marinsanna." Another person weighed in, "I so agree. Don't let anyone steal joy."

An additional person highlighting Hillary referencing Ann Richards wrote, "I sooo miss Ann Richards... only time I was actually proud to be from Texas" This fourth individual from Columbia wrote, "Colombians LOVE to dance, it's a huge part of the culture! Good for you for enjoying yourself!"

Even though Marin valued the assistance and the two women had the support of many others, not everyone, especially those from the European country, shared the same sentiments. Some Finns advised Clinton to stay out of Finnish politics and "Take care of US domestic policy" instead. One person brought up a current scandal that Marin has been embroiled with and wrote, "The prime minister of Finland has tested positive for not having a stick up her arse and enjoying herself after rumours of her using illegal substances spread across social media." Another individual feels like Marin is not doing a good job as PM wrote, "All I want is to see our PM to do her work properly. Until now, she has NOT done her work properly. She can dance and that's cool, but she is not a dancer. She should be our prime minister."

Marin, one of the world's youngest heads of state at barely 36 has come under increasing criticism having opponents speculating that she was under the influence of drugs after seeing footage of her dancing erratically. There were other leaked recordings shared of the married mother entertaining topless influencers at her official summer home and dancing with an unidentified male.

Last week, Marin wept as she apologized, saying, "I am also human." The prime minister also disclosed that she had a drug test to demonstrate her sobriety and her test was returned with negative results.
