The senior was treated in the intensive care unit at Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center until Sunday when his body stopped responding, People reported. The hospital also confirmed that Brister was an organ donor. The hospital shared a video of Brister's "honor walk” as "his loved ones said goodbye" and paid their respects to a “lifesaving soul.” "It was our honor to care for Jordan Brister," the hospital wrote. "Jordan, We honor you ❤️"
The Clark County Coroner’s Office noted the exact cause of Brister’s death is still under investigation. His family told KSNV news that the senior had no known medical history and did not do drugs. Brister’s heartbroken mother, Savanna Brister described him as “a selfless, respectful, Southern gentleman who was kind to everyone.”
“He was witty and charming. He wanted to join the military to become a para rescue jumper to save others. In the end, he saved others through the donation of organs, so his dream was somewhat fulfilled. He was a wise, older brother who cared deeply for his brother and sister. Jordan was truly everything you could ask for and more. He had a heart of gold." Savanna said in a statement to Fox News. Brister and his family had moved to Las Vegas from central Louisiana just two years ago. He was a senior at Amplus Academy and had plans to join the military after graduating from high school.
A GoFundMe page was also set up by a family friend to raise money for funeral expenses. "Words cannot express what the Brister family is going through and there will never be enough answers as to why this has happened," the GoFundMe page says. "He was an amazing kid who loved life to the fullest." The page has raised more than $45,000 out of the initial goal of $20,000.
The school also sent its condolences to Brister's family in announcing his death on Facebook. “It is with deep sadness and sympathy that we announce the passing of one of our Senior High School students, Jordan Brister. The Amplus community sends our love and condolences to the Brister family as well as to all of Jordan's family, friends, and acquaintances.” the post reads.
