Paul Pelosi's DUI arrest: Here's why California cops aren't releasing bodycam footage
The Napa County District Attorney’s Office will not release any dash or body camera footage from Paul Pelosi’s DUI arrest right now because it could "jeopardize" the ongoing investigation, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Nancy Pelosi's husband was arrested after driving a 2021 Porsche into an intersection near Yountville, California, on May 28, and being hit by a jeep.
"The Public Records Unit (PRU) has determined the Department possesses records responsive to your request," CHP told Fox News Digital in a letter in a response to a California Public Records Act request last week.
"However, the Napa County District Attorney’s Office has advised the release of records would jeopardize an ongoing investigation. As such, records are being withheld pursuant to Government Code section 6254 (f)."
In a separate press release Thursday, the DA’s Office said that it has not decided yet what, if any, charges, will be filed against the 82-year-old businessman.
“This is standard protocol in any DUI case that is referred by a law enforcement agency in Napa County,” the agency stated. “No decision has been made at this time. Any speculation to the contrary is incorrect.”

The statement from the DA's office came after several false posts were shared on social media during this week claiming that all DUI charges against Pelosi were dropped.
“Paul Pelosi’s DUI charges have been dropped,” GOP Rep Lauren Boebert wrote in a tweet Wednesday that was shared over 11,000 times. “Is anyone really surprised?”

Is anyone really surprised?
Pelosi was arrested after his car crashed at an intersection near Yountville, California. According to the California Highway Patrol and court records, Pelosi, 82, was driving a 2021 Porsche that was hit by a 2014 Jeep as Pelosi's car tried to cross a state road in Napa County.
No one was hurt and the Jeep's driver wasn't arrested, CHP said at that time. Pelosi was booked into the Napa County Detention Center on two DUI-related counts. He was released Sunday morning on $5,000 bail, court records show. According to a statement from a representative for Pelosi, he was attending a dinner party in Oakville and left the party at 10:15 pm. Pelosi was arrested at 11:55 pm.
Paul agreed to court date of August 3 in Napa County Superior Court, prosecutors said. If charges are filed, he will be arraigned then.
Paul and Nancy Pelosi have been married since 1963. The couple has five children and split their time between San Francisco and Washington, DC. The House Speaker’s husband is a successful venture capitalist, and the pair amassed an estimated personal fortune of more than $110 million by 2018, according to Open Secrets, a non-profit that tracks money in politics.
