Two months after 'American Horror Story' star Harry Haines, 27, died, the cause of death has finally been revealed. Haines died on January 7, and now, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office has announced that the young actor died from accidental fentanyl intoxication, said reports.

His mother and actress Jane Badler, 66, had taken to her personal Instagram account to share a touching tribute to her son who battled addiction and mental illnesses. “He was 27 and had the world at his feet," she had written in the caption accompanying the photo. "But sadly he struggled with mental illness and addiction. A brilliant spark shone bright too short a time .. I will miss you Harry every day of my life,” she added.

In her Instagram stories, Badler had shared a profile of Hains, with the caption: “My beautiful poetic boy .. forever young.” She followed it with a photo of a bouquet of white roses, captioning the shot, “beauty in grief.”

Badler, whose acting credits include 'V', 'Falcon Crest', 'The Highwayman', 'Cluedo', Australian soap opera 'Neighbours', as well as the 'Mission: Impossible' TV series hadn't revealed her son's cause of death at the time. Hains' funeral was held on January 12, in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

Starting out as a pre-med student in Australia, Hains' arrival at Los Angeles was marked by various stints in acting, poetry and music. His acting credits included 'The OA', 'American Horror Story: Hotel' and 'Sneaky Pete'. His music performances were done under the name ANTIBOY. In a March 2019 interview with 'Boys by Girls', Haines shared his battle with a sleeping disorder growing up, and how that led to him taking pills at a young age.

“Maybe I have a part of me that is self-destructive because I think I do have that,” Hains had shared with the outlet, adding: "Growing up I had a very serious sleeping disorder called Idiopathic Insomnia. I couldn’t sleep for my entire childhood until I started taking sleeping pills at 12/13. So I was tortured by sleep deprivation and I had a lot of phobias.”

Born male, Haines revealed to the outlet that he identified as gender fluid and how he would "love to create a space for LGBTQ+ artists where people can feel safe to go and create art and exist and collaborate in this space. Not just for LGBTQ+ artists, but for anyone who feels judged in the outside world or feels like an outsider or minority.”
