Can you use Gorilla Glue on hair? Hairstylist admits to using it on clients for years leaving people horrified
In the aftermath of the "Gorilla Glue Girl" incident, a hairstylist has revealed that he has been using Gorilla Glue on clients' hair for years. Salon owner Eric Vaughn uploaded a video on TikTok where he demonstrated how he uses Gorilla Glue — and it is far different from how Tessica Brown had used it.
Earlier this month, TikToker Tessica Brown went viral when she uploaded a video to the platform talking about her situation where she applied Gorilla Glue to her hair. She posted the video as a warning to others and even went to the ER. In her video, Brown explained that she used Gorilla Glue spray instead of Got2b Glued Spray which got over, to keep her hair in place. She also uploaded videos to show washing her hair did not do help either. She said that she put coconut oil and tea tree oil on her hair to remove it but to no avail.

Brown announced that she will sue Gorilla Glue for not putting a warning label against the use of the product on the hair. However, Gorilla Glue responded in an apology stating that the warning label on the spray adhesive states, "do not swallow. Do not get in eyes, on skin or on clothing..."
We are very sorry to hear about the unfortunate incident that Miss Brown experienced using our Spray Adhesive on her hair. We are glad to see in her recent video that Miss Brown has received medical treatment from her local medical facility and wish her the best. pic.twitter.com/SoCvwxdrGc

Now, it seems like Brown's case may have weakened after salon owner Eric Vaughn revealed that he has been using Gorilla Glue on clients' hair for years. In a video uploaded to TikTok, Vaughn says, "So, I've been using Gorilla Glue on people's hair for years but this is the only way that you should ever use it — at the end of a sew-in."
He then explains how he uses a minimal amount of Gorilla Glue to knot threads together and keep them in place. He does go on to warn that Gorilla Glue should not be used on actual hair.
Despite Vaughn saying that he uses Gorilla Glue on the thread and not the client's hair or scalp, TikTok users are horrified given that the industrial-strength glue has been in the news lately over the Tessica Brown fiasco.
One user commented on the video, "Ik you've been doing it for years but i got so anxious watching this, i think I've been traumatized by the gorilla glue girl."
Another user wrote, "I'm sorry but no gorilla glue should be around my hair or head." Even a fellow hairstylist commented, writing, "I am a hairstylist and I have never used gorilla glue in someone's here [sic] But I also don't do tracks."
Some users have come to Vaughn's defense. One user wrote, "Y'all these are beaded weft sew in. He's only putting glue on the knot from the thread to keep it from unknotting." Another user wrote, "I love how everyone ignores that u literally said you've been doing this for years.. and still proceed to critique you," to which Vaughn responded, "It's my fav part of tiktok lol." A user wrote, "Why is everyone freaking out about this video didn't did none of you guys watch America's next top model [sic]."
