There was a standoff that led to the teenage gunman being captured. The suspect was barricaded in a barn. A drone was sent into the barn to try and negotiate with the suspect but the drone reportedly malfunctioned. "I heard two gunshots, and they were really loud so I knew something was close by and then I heard three other gunshots," said Robert, a witness. "I saw him basically pass my house in the backyard. He had a long barrel shotgun. He was dressed in camo. He had a full backpack on that was also camouflage." Robert called 911 at about 5 pm.

A resident, Victoria McGraw, told ABC11, "A lot of police activity, honestly I was actually in the house with my child, my oldest child, and we were hearing a lot of sirens and it was like, kind of alarming because it was more than a couple. The most alarming part had to be my youngest daughter, she was with her dad, and he just kept calling me, like what was going on, and he was seeing a flood of police officers coming in and that's when I looked outside and there were police officers up and down the street."
