Trump Jr slammed for cheering Kyle Rittenhouse's AR-15 gift by Gun Owners of America

Donald Trump Jr expressed his full support for Gun Owners of America's plan to award Rittenhouse with an AR-15 after his full acquittal in court

Gun Owners of America (GOA), a non-profit lobbying organization formed in 1976 to "preserve and defend the Second Amendment rights of gun owners" is sending an AR-15 rifle to Kyle Rittenhouse. Donald Trump Jr hasexpressed his support for the same with a tweet and the Internet is brimming with reactions. The teenager was fully acquitted on all five charges including homicide for killing two men and injuring one at the Kenosha riots in August 2020. Rittenhouse's spokesperson told media outlets his client will be going back to living a "normal" life and will return to school to study and fulfil his dream of being a nurse. The teen was brutally trolled on Twitter for this revelation, including a tweet that said 'I'd straight up flatline' if Rittenhouse was the nurse. 

The verdict in Rittenhouse's case has left America divided. His supporters outside the courthouse chanted "praise God" when it was finalized while another group booed in response. Jacob Blake's family was present outside the courthouse too. Blake's shooting had resulted in the Kenosha riots. He's rendered paralyzed for life and his family wanted to see Rittenhouse punished for killing Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum who were at the Kenosha rally to condemn Blake's shooting. An uncle Jacob Blake told media, "We're going to continue to fight," Justin Blake, an uncle, told news cameras posted outside, according to USA Today. "Somehow, someway those 12 jurors who had the evidence found he was innocent of the charges, yet we have two young men that will never be walking through the door to their families again."

"ALERT: GOA will be awarding Kyle Rittenhouse with an AR-15 for his defense of gun rights in America. Join us in saying THANK YOU to Kyle Rittenhouse for being a warrior for gun owners and self defense rights across the country!" GOA tweeted from their official handle. Donald Trump Jr took to Twitter in the night on November 20 to support their decision, writing, "Gun Owners of America is sending Kyle Rittenhouse an AR-15. Sign the card in support of Kyle. Americans have a fundamental right to defend themselves, and to keep and bear arms. The verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial is a recognition of those rights." The Internet hit back at the troubled son of the former President who has also positively responded to the verdict.

"Somewhere in the fine print I take it you're asking for money again," a Twitter user responded to Trump Jr's tweet. "Read the room. We are tired of gun violence," wrote another while another responded, "Deranged." Another asked, "Do you realise how the rest of the world is viewing this? Absolute madness. The US is out of control."
