SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Video footage from the wedding of an influencer couple went viral after the groom was accused of stealing portions of his wedding speech from a well-known Pinterest meme. In October, Jade Tuncdoruk, 27, and Lachie Brycki, 29, got married in the Hunter Valley. On March 15, she pleasantly surprised her followers by posting a previously unreleased video from the wedding on TikTok.

In one video, Lachie gave an impassioned speech during his wedding, telling his new bride, "When I say I love you more, I don't mean I love you more than you love me; I mean I love you more than the bad days ahead of us. I love you more than any fight we will ever have; I love you more than the distance between us; I love you more than any obstacle that could try and come between us."

'It needs to be personal'

As per The Daily Mail, these lines are from a well-known poem by author Erin Nicole that is frequently reposted on social media websites like Pinterest, and Jade's followers immediately recognized them. In fact, when you search for "love quotes" on Google, the poem is included in the top webpage that appears in the search results.

The clip was later uploaded by the snark account influencer updates AU, which sparked discussion on whether it was proper to use memes in a wedding speech. "How humiliating!" one follower wrote, while another user added, "Hilarious." "I know people are saying let it go, but as a wedding vow, it needs to be personal. Copying the entire speech from a poem would make me feel loved less," someone else wrote.

Others, however, came to Lachie's defense, pointing out that some people find it difficult to express themselves and need Internet assistance. "Maybe writing original words wasn't his forte but he found words that expressed what he felt? And it's clearly genuine, look at him tearing up," one wrote.

Users also said that it was unjust to shame Lachie for using web quotes as inspiration for his marriage vows because many people do so. "I think just because they aren't his words doesn't take away from the meaning of what he said. He clearly resonated with the poem and meant every word he said - his words or not," someone commented.

Jade and Lachie got engaged in January 2021

Jade shared a touching post of Lachie getting down on one knee and popping the question when she revealed her engagement on Instagram last year. They were standing on the sand of a beautiful beach when her long-term partner gave her a ring. Jade placed her hands to her face in disbelief at the picture. In her caption, she detailed how the proposal took place, saying, "Lach and I do this thing where we ask the other to 'tell me five things you love about me.' Today, Lach randomly started telling me five things he loves about me, which was unexpected but of course, completely welcome. For the fifth thing he said, 'But most of all, I love knowing that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I just need to know if you want to spend the rest of yours with me.'"
