'Grey's Anatomy' Season 17 Episode 17 : Why is Meredith back on the beach again?

Dr Miranda Bailey asks Meredith to take over the residency program from Dr Richard Webber

Fans couldn't control their excitement at seeing Dr Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) looking and seeming more back to normal on the latest episode of 'Grey's Anatomy'. When Dr Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) goes to visit Meredith to discuss her return to work, she catches Meredith playing a game of softball with her daughter Ellis. 

Meredith seems to be back to be the hands-on-mother that she is. Fans couldn't control how excited they were to see Meredith up and about with Ellis. But it seems like fans may have got prematurely excited. Since it soon becomes clear that Meredith gets winded by even a little physical activity. Meredith tells Bailey that she may take a while to ever get back to normal, and in fact, may never be able to operate again. But while fans and definitely Bailey want Meredith to go back to 'normal', normal according to Meredith gets us to racism, sexism and the compromised health care we have seen of late.

Meredith, in fact, tells Bailey that Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) and Tom Koracick (Greg Germann) had the right idea. But before she can carry on with this train of thought, Dr Bailey tells Meredith what she has in mind for her. She tells Meredith that she wants her to take over the residency program. Meredith says that the residency program is run by Dr Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr). Bailey says yes but he is already Chief of Chiefs and is also doing surgery and hints that at some point sooner rather than later Dr Webber will have to start stepping back. Fans love what happens when Bailey put their heads together.

Another fan tweeted, "MEREDITH GOING TO TAKEOVER THE RESIDENCY PROGRAM HOWS THE INTERN HAS GROWN #GreysAnatomy." 
 

But just as fans thought everything was slowly getting back on track for Meredith, the trailer for the finale episode of 'Grey's Anatomy' shows Meredith back on the beach again. Fans are not surprisingly in a panic over this development. One fan tweeted, "I’m not ready I’m not okay #GreysAnatomy." Another fan tweeted, "Are you telling me Derek will appear for the last time? why my goodness, the beach and everything that surrounds them. ENOUGH TO PLAY WITH MY FEELINGS #GreysAnatomy."
