‘Grey's Anatomy’ Season 17 Episode 1: Owen dumps Teddy over horrific ‘sex sounds’ clip, will he buy her sob story?

As he leaves her and drives his car off, she begs him, 'Owen, please, please, wait.' But Owen is gone... and for good

Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) is a cheater! And her fiance Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) found it in the worst way imaginable... Teddy thought she could just have one last fling with Tom Koracick (Greg Germann) before walking down the aisle. But, to Owen's horror, he heard her having sex on voicemail. Of course, Owen couldn't digest the fact. And he took revenge. By playing those "sex sounds" AGAIN — right in front of her on his phone! 

As ‘Grey's Anatomy’ Season 17 Episode 1 premiered, fans awoke to the horror of Teddy-Tom-Owen triangle yet again and that gross sex audio clip as well. Teddy is not innocent, and fans can't help feeling sorry for Owen who may have tortured himself every night by listening to the voicemail in a dark room. Not only is their marriage called off, Owen has a huge heartbreak and so does Teddy — who now confesses she loves him. Sure, why not?

The scene didn't rub well with fans and they couldn't help but poke fun at the audio clip. "Dude has Teddy’s sex song on his playlist #GreysAnatomy," one fan said and another posted, "OH MY GOD he really is playing her sex voicemail for her!! That is straight up savage! #GreysAnatomy #GreysxStation19." A third chimed in, "Teddy is funny. Talking about what’s wrong. Girl you cheated on him and had left him a voicemail full of all the sex between you and Tom #GreysAnatomy."

Many fans outraged when Teddy even attempted to defend herself. "Yeah! Teddy was throwing Jo some SERIOUS shade, when Jo didn’t do anything wrong to Alex to make him leave. But, Teddy having sex with Tom is her fault and TOTALLY wrong! She cheated on Owen! #GreysAnatomy," one fan wrote and another said, "Teddy: “It’s nobody’s business...”Ma’am, you were heard having sex with a man, who’s not your fiancé, on a cellphone in front of the doctors in a WHOLE OR! #GreysAnatomy." Another viewer posted, "Teddy didn't just slip once. She Had sex with Koracick many times while leading Owen on. I'm not buying her sob story. #GreysAnatomy."

Defending herself, Teddy says it was a "stupid mistake". Owen points out that she didn't even once say no because she felt guilty, instead she just casually said, "I'm marrying Owen." She then sobs, "I wanna be with you..." As he leaves her and drives his car off, she begs him, "Owen, please, please, wait." But Owen is gone... and for good. 

Can Teddy and Owen's relationship be mended? Fans feel it isn't possible... But in the past, Owen himself has himself been a cheater. Will he ever forgive Teddy or will we see Teddy and Tom be a thing? Only time will tell. Until then, we can only wait for this madness in the next episode. 

The next episode of ‘Grey's Anatomy’ Season 17 will air on ABC from 9 pm ET to 10 pm ET on November 19, 2020.
