'Grey's Anatomy' Season 16 Episode 8: Fans call Bailey 'jealous' even though she welcomes Meredith back at Grey Sloan
Titled 'My Shot', the latest episode of 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 16 put the spotlight on Meredith Grey's judgment day. As she stood before the medical board for her impending decision, Miranda Bailey too awaited the decision as she was the one who filed the complaint.
When she was first called to the witness stand, an embittered Bailey said she hadn’t grown close to Meredith despite the fact that she’d named her son after her. Moreover, when Bailey saw Richard Webber lying for Meredith, she called him out and said, "Meredith Grey could commit murder, and you’d hide the body. You choose her, you always choose her." That's when Webber said, "You sound jealous", and admitted he did give special treatment to Mer as she was "family" and would do the same for him.
At the hearing, when the doctors and patients went on to praise Meredith one by one, Bailey too stood up for her and said, "She deserved to lose her job but no one should be questioning her license." In her defense, she added, "She broke the law to save a life. With all of that she has survived, it hasn't made her hard, cold, mean, it has made her better." Later, Bailey invited Mer back to Grey Sloan saying, "You are a pain in my ass, but you’re a fine surgeon. And your name’s on the damn sign. And I need you."
Fans of the show, however, aren't too pleased with Bailey's actions and are even calling her a "bitch." "I haven't finished the most recent ep, but why has Bailey become such a horrible betrayer?" one fan wrote and another one posted, "Why is Bailey so angry and bitter? She has that hunky husband at home." Another tweet read: "I don’t get why bailey is jealous. They were close friends and she named her son after her."
"So all this time Bailey has been jealous of Meredith or is she really just tired of Meredith always getting her way and doing what she wants?" one user wrote and another one posted, "I love Bailey but she is one hell of a jealous woman. I mean why the hell she even competes with Meredith, She is jealous of her success, She is jealous of Meredith and Richard relation. I mean wth woman???"
Nevertheless, now that Bailey has finally come to terms with the reality and welcomed back Meredith at the hospital, fans are cooling off. The next episode of 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 16 airs next Thursday, November 21 on ABC.
