ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA: A thief was caught on camera holding the door open for a woman pushing a man in a wheelchair while trying to escape after stealing a meal delivery kit. The incident occurred in Adelaide, where the woman was seen taking the Marley Spoon meal kit from an apartment lobby on Sunday, March 19.

The CCTV footage showed the thief leaving the building, but before she could make a clean getaway, she noticed the woman and the man in a wheelchair and decided to help them by holding the door open. After she made sure that the duo were inside, she escaped through the carpark door.

'Good Samaritan'

The owner of the stolen meal kit shared the footage along with several images on TikTok, hoping to identify the thief. However, many Australians seemed to be more interested in the unexpected act of kindness she showed. Even the owner joined in on the fun, jokingly referring to the thief as a "good Samaritan."

"Hey at least she held the door open, that was her good deed," a person commented on the video. "She earned it, done a good deed for the day," another joked. Several viewers were not thrilled with the theft and provided the victim advice on where to look for her. "Hope her dinner was horrible," one person commented, while another wrote, "Post on a local Facebook page and even talk to police, someone will know her." Another person chipped in, "Pathetic that she’s stealing Marley Spoon, how do people forget there are cameras around." "She clearly needed the food more than you," another commented.

Similar act of kidness

In case somewhat similar to this, the owner of a 7-Eleven in Ohio decided to show knidness to a hungry teenager caught shoplifting in his store. Jitendra Singh, the owner of the store in Toledo, was alerted by his clerk about the teenager, who had been taking gum and candy without paying. After he checked the store's surveillance footage and confirmed what was happening, he confronted the teenager at the checkout counter while the teenager was paying for a few of the items. He asked the teenager to empty out his pockets. The teenager revealed one stolen item, but Singh knew there were more. He threatened to call the authorities unless the teenager emptied out his pockets.

When Singh asked the teenager why he had been stealing, he confessed it was because he and his younger brother were hungry. Singh told his clerk to not call 911 and told the teenager, "Well that’s not food. You’re stealing gum and candies. That’s just something for munching." He told the teenager to pick out more substantial things such as pizza, chicken wings, taquitos, nachos and sandwiches, and insisted he take them free of charge.
