'Game of Thrones' prequel 'House of the Dragon' premiered on Sunday, August 21, 2022, and has lived up to the fan's expectations. After the release audiences picked their favorite character and raved about it the most. Wonder which character this was? Daemon Targaryen portrayed by Matt Smith. Fans have reacted following the first episode and claimed that he literally carried the first episode of 'House of the Dragon' on his back.

Prince Daemon Targaryen was a member of House Targaryen, being a younger son of Prince Baelon Targaryen and a brother of King Viserys I Targaryen. Daemon was the second husband of Rhaenyra Targaryen, Princess of Dragonstone, following Ser Laenor Velaryon. Daemon was the most experienced warrior of his time and wielded the Valyrian steel blade Dark Sister. A dragon rider whose dragon was Caraxes, Daemon declared himself the King of the Stepstones and the Narrow Sea. During the Dance of the Dragons, he was a prominent supporter of his wife, Rhaenyra.

'Game of Thrones' prequel 'House of the Dragon': Rhaenyra Targaryen's coronation details you may have MISSED

Daemon Targaryen was introduced in the series where he was sitting on the Iron Throne without a care in the world where he greets his niece, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. Despite being the commander of the city watch, the Prince's decision to make the criminal of the cities pay and how made the council members see the Prince as a Tyrant-in-making. He has his complexities, but he is not feelingless as we see the Prince bringing a gift for his niece Princess Rhaenyra, and expressing his depression over the death of his sister-in-law, and his nephew. while also implying that he wanted his elder brother, King Viserys I (Paddy Considine) proud. Although this ended when Viserys I was warned about the speech Daemon made at a brothel about the death of his nephew where he called Baelon an 'heir for a day' leading Viserys I to chastise him so Daemon could no longer defend himself and Viserys I named his daughter to be the heir for the Iron Throne replacing Daemon and asking him to leave. So while Rhaenyra was having her coronation, Daemon was preparing to leave on his Dragon Caraxes's back.

The 'Game of Thrones' prequel 'House of the Dragon' first episode's ending suggests Daemon will not be returning to King’s Landing anytime soon, as he has not only left on his dragon Caraxes but has also taken along his paramour Mysaria, with him. He looked disheartened as he can no longer anticipate sitting on the Iron Throne or having a role in his brother’s reign, Daemon is competent to find a crown of his own elsewhere. However, it seems that the first place he may stop is Dragonstone, the seat of House Targaryen in Westeros, as this is the most logical answer to the question of where Daemon is going at the end of 'House of the Dragon' first episode and with the episode 1 ending audiences sees that Rhaenyra Targaryen is named the Princess of Dragonstone. Daemon may choose to stay at their ancestral home while the declared heir remains in King’s Landing. While Daemon's first stop after the 'House of the Dragon' premiere may be to Dragonstone assuming to get a dragon egg, the 'Fire & Blood' suggests the character will be later headed for the Stepstones. Let's wait and watch if the creators follow the book's storyline or revamp it a little.
