Spoilers for 'House of the Dragon' Episode 1

In the first episode of 'House of the Dragon' Season 1, Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock) was proclaimed as next in line to rule the seven kingdoms of Westeros after her father King Viserys I's demise. With the 'Game of Thrones' prequel set to take fans through a new royal rift over the Iron Throne, Rhaenyra's coronation was one of the scenes that caught the attention of viewers. Let's walk you through the details you may have missed regarding the Targaryen princess's coronation.

According to the book, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, cheered as the Realm's Delight when she was young and later called the Half-Year Queen, is the first-born child of King Viserys I with his first wife, Queen Aemma of House Arryn. At the age of eight, she is made her father's heir and grew up expecting to become the first ruling Queen of Westeros. Rhaenyra is a dragon rider whose mount is Syrax.

At the end of the episode, we see Princess Rhaenyra's best friend, Alicent Hightower, preparing the Princess for her coronation after which we see the Lord of the Tides and Master of Driftmark, Corlys Velaryon, swearing allegience to the King and his named heir, the Princess Rhaenyra.

Some of the well-known houses in 'Game of Thrones' made an appearance in 'House of the Dragon' during the coronation. The names Stark and Baratheon, ring a bell? Of course! Rickon Stark who is the ancestor of Robb Stark and Jon Snow in 'Game of Thrones' made a pledge to serve the princess. Lord Boremund Baratheon who is the ancestor of King Robert Baratheon and brothers Renly and Stannis in 'Game of Thrones', also pledged his fealty to the Targaryen Princess. Let's brush your memory up a little, Robert Baratheon is the one who led a rebel army against King Aerys Targaryen aka the Mad King, which led the former to earn the nickname the Usurper among Targaryen devotees. However, one thing you might have forgotten is, that the Targaryens always knew the Great Winter is coming which would start from the North. This secret was only known to the Targaryens rulers as they kept it a secret from others and passed it on to the next heir to prepare them but unfortunately Daenerys Targaryen had to fight for the throne instead of inheriting it.

An outfit detail you might have missed is the necklace that the Highlord made her wear after everyone made their pledges. The necklace had all the six houses' sigils embedded on them with the Targaryen House in the middle, on the right-hand side there were Lannisters, then Arryn, at the back it had Stark and Martell, which brings us to the right-hand side of the necklace which was embedded with the House of Tully sigil on it. This depicts that all the houses were supposed to serve the Targaryens were responsible to protect the other houses.
