GMA anchor covering King Charles coronation 'blown off platform' as host Michael Strahan jokes he'll get her 'better umbrella' next time
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: There is a new King of England and the world media has turned its spotlight to felicitate this historical moment. After Queen Elizabeth’s death last year, her eldest son Charles became the next in line to take the vacant throne and the time has now finally arrived for him to answer his call to duty. It’s the talk of the town and a moment that will be etched in memory forever. Due to its historical significance and future repercussions, media houses from around the world have harbored their best reporters in London to cover this noteworthy event.
However, London can be a rollercoaster ride if someone is not accustomed to the weather and it looks like a few American correspondents reporting King Charles’ coronation have seem to found London’s breezy weather a tad bit interfering in the job that they are present to accomplish. 'Good Morning America's correspondent, Michael Strahan is in London to report on the preparations for King Charles’ coronation. During a live broadcast, while talking to an on-field reporter, Strahan saw a small trailer of London’s wet weather.

Maggie Ruili blown away by London winds
Strahan was reporting live from the studio in London where he had to constantly talk to on-field reporters about the proceedings related to the coronation ceremony. During one segment, ABC News Foreign Correspondent Maggie Ruili came on television, reporting live from Westminster Abbey while holding onto a massive umbrella due to the heavy rain. “A little rain can’t stop history,” she added, before going on to answer Strahan’s questions about the big coronation.
But during the end of the broadcast, Maggie was suddenly interfered with by strong winds which blew her big umbrella away, making her scream in the middle of the live broadcast. She failed to complete her chain of thought but quickly recollected herself and explained, “Whoa, Michael! In the middle of that, we had a big wind gust, and I got blown off the platform! But don’t worry,” she quickly added, as she appeared back on camera, without an umbrella with messy hair blowing all over in the wind.
GMA’s host Strahan had a friendly advice
When Maggie told Strahan to “stay dry” in the studio, he was quick to revert, “Well, you, stay up there period!” Maggie may have lost her umbrella to the wild London weather but it was Strahan’s words that made the moment less embarrassing and helped her to cheer up. “Well, live TV, Maggie. That’s what that is. You lost your umbrella, but no detail for this coronation has been overlooked, and we’re gonna get you a better umbrella next time. We promise.” King Charles’ coronation takes place on May 6, 2023, at Westminster Abbey.
