This incident came just days after a two-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital following an attack by her family’s large dog. On March 27, Alara Rose was bitten on the face by the animal at the property on Camilla Avenue in Osborne, 25km north of Adelaide's CBD, South Australia Police said. Rose was taken to the Woman and Children's Hospital with what the police described as "superficial face injuries.”
Chris Walker, Rose’s father, revealed he heard growling when he stepped outside and discovered his daughter being attacked by his 35kg South African Boerboel. A neighbor who rushed over to help said they were able to recuse the child after he removed the dog and locked it in his carport. Another neighbor said "the ambos (ambulances) were just pulling up as I was pulling in," and that the dog was still there at the time, as Meaww reported earlier.
Following the incident, community safety officials from the City of Port Adelaide Enfield Council removed the dog from the residence. "The owner surrendered the dog, and it was immediately removed from the property," said a spokesperson for Community Safety Officers. The dog is currently being held by the council in kennels and an investigation is underway to decide its fate.
