Alara Rose: Girl, 2, rushed to hospital after being bitten on face by large family dog
OSBORNE, AUSTRALIA: A two-year-old girl has been rushed to the hospital after she was viciously attacked by her family’s large dog. The incident took place after 1.30 pm on Monday, March 27 when Alara Rose was bitten on the face at the property on Camilla Avenue in Osborne, 25km north of Adelaide's CBD, South Australia Police said.
The toddler was taken to the Woman and Children's Hospital, with what the police described as "superficial face injuries.” The young girl's father Chris Walker informed 7NEWS that he heard growling and discovered his daughter being attacked by his 35kg South African Boerboel. A neighbor who rushed over to help said they were able to recuse the child after he removed the dog and lock it in his carport. Another neighbor said "the ambos (ambulances) were just pulling up as I was pulling in," and that the dog was still there at the time.

Toddler loses half her face after being attacked by rescue dog
In a similar incident, a three-year-old girl lost half of her face after being mauled by the family's rescue dog. Rebekka Bolline rescued Tater Tot, a three-year-old dog from a nearby animal shelter after her toddler daughter Emily Roark requested a puppy. Tragically, within 24 hours, the dog "devoured some of Emily's face," leaving the horrified mother of two to believe she was dead.
The youngster was taken immediately to Slidell Memorial Hospital in Louisiana after the dog unleashed itself. Emily's right cheek allegedly fell off as a result of the attack, according to Rebekka, who claims the dog "ate through" her face and "ingested" some of her skin. The three-year-old is unable to smile on one side of her face or sleep on it. "Her cheek was chewed up very badly. The dog ingested some of her face. I will never trust a dog ever again. It snapped for no reason." The devastated mother said. The child was transferred to Children's International Pediatrics Hospital in New Orleans where a plastic surgeon stitched up the gouges on the toddler's cheeks, lip, and even inside the mouth.
