George W Bush absolutely trolled for MOTHER OF ALL SLIP UPS

Former US President George W Bush made a significant verbal slip-up while speaking in Dallas about Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine. While talking about the importance of elections in America, Bush mistakenly said Iraq instead of Ukraine while he was referencing Russia's invasion of Ukraine as a “wholly unjustified and brutal invasion”.

"In contrast, Russian elections are rigged. Political opponents are imprisoned or otherwise eliminated from participating in the political process. The result is the absence of checks and balances in Russia and the decision of one man to launch a wholly unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq", Bush said. However, he quickly corrected himself. "I mean Ukraine," he said with a head shake and a laugh. He followed it with a quip about him being 75.

Bush, however, is not the only president to make verbal slip-ups. Current US president Joe Biden has made several mistakes in the last year alone and has been trolled multiple times. While delivering a speech at South Carolina State University during its 2021 Fall commencement ceremony, Biden referred to US Vice President Kamala Harris as “President Harris”. The US President said, “… all kidding aside, of course, President Harris, who’s a proud Howard alumn, she might have something to say about Delaware State.” Another slip-up came in a press interaction after the President underwent his first routine physical in office. Biden, who is the oldest president in American history, said that he was going to celebrate his ‘58th’ birthday while it was, in fact, his 79th on November 20, 2021.

Bush's slip-up came while giving a 10-minute speech at his presidential center at Southern Methodist University. He also examined the state of democracy and the safety of American elections in the shadow of former President Donald Trump’s refusal to concede his loss to Biden and the insurrection that ensued at the US Capitol on January 6, as reported by The Dallas Morning News.

The invasion of Iraq was spearheaded by Bush himself when he was in power from 2001 to 2009. The war, which lasted until 2011, has long been criticized – and Bush faulted for it – with claims that there were no weapons of mass destruction in the country, despite them being one of the objectives of the campaign. Bush oversaw the 2003 preemptive invasion of Iraq, which critics have called both brutal and unjustified. More than 4,000 American troops were killed in the war, along with tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians.

The awkward gaffe did not go unnoticed on Twitter as social media tore into the former president. One social media user wrote: "We always knew that the Iraq invasion was wholly unjustified and brutal. Just like the one in Ukraine?" Another troll tweeted: "Told the truth for once, so I’d say he’s making progress." One troll dragged the president in as well saying: "Man suffered a Biden."  There was one social media user who said, "Honestly the best part is when he shrugged and muttered "well, iraq too" under his breath afterwards that's commitment to the flub."
