Woke LA DA George Gascon knew trans pedo Hannah Tubbs was bragging about lenient sentence
Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón was shamed into changing his stance on "outlier" juvenile sentencing after a report suggested one of the criminals he advocated for had no remorse, his staffers have revealed.
Last week, Gascón appeared to flip flop on his controversial reformative approach to justice after jailhouse audio recordings obtained by Fox News caught trans pedophile Hannah Tubbs bragging about how she got off with a light sentence in a juvenile facility. Tubbs received a measly two-year prison sentence for molesting a 10-year-old girl inside a restaurant bathroom. Gascón subsequently said he's rethinking his approach in light of the disturbing comments Tubbs made in jail, including that she wouldn't have to register as a sex offender and that "nothing" would be done to discipline her. It's worth noting that Tubbs was a male at the time of the offense.

"It's unfortunate that she gamed the system," Gascón told the Los Angeles Times. "If I had to do it all over again, she would be prosecuted in adult court," he added. Nonetheless, his critics believe his admission is just a publicity stunt amid growing recall efforts against him. Eric Siddall, a deputy district attorney and outspoken critic of the DA, told the Times that Gascón "knew Fox was going to run with those tapes. It was damage-control time."

More than 600 deputy district attorneys across Los Angeles County endorsed Gascón's recall Tuesday, February 22, during an Association of Deputy District Attorneys meeting amid growing frustration with the progressive prosecutor. Gascón became A County's 43rd district attorney in December 2020 and was soon blamed for a spike in violent crime in the region. It's worth noting that LA has faced a 54 percent increase in murders since 2019, aside from rising street shootings and armed holdups.
According to the Times, close to 98 percent of prosecutors supported Gascón's ousting after he declined to meet with them and defend his policies. The vote saw a record 83 percent turnout in the more than 800-member union. "This vote is by those who are intimately familiar with how Mr. Gascón’s policies actually play out on a day-to-day basis," ADDA president Michele Hanisee said in a statement. "We believe the vote of our members will resonate with the voters of Los Angeles as they decide whether to recall Gascón from office and restore public safety as the priority of the District Attorney’s office."

Siddall, who is the vice president of the union, said the DA's controversial approach was a failed experiment. "Over a year ago, Gascón began a massive social experiment by redirecting prosecutorial resources away from enforcing the law while simultaneously ignoring large portions of the penal code," Siddall said. "The result is an emboldened criminal element that knows the DA will not hold criminals accountable. This experiment needs to end."
Gascón appeared to do damage control after Fox released audio recordings containing Tubbs' brazen comments. Prior to her sentencing, prosecutors had pushed for her to be held in an LA County prison so she can be tried as an adult. However, Gascón reportedly declined to file a motion to move the case out of juvenile court, where it was filed because Tubbs was 17 when she committed the assault.
In the recordings obtained by Fox, Tubbs also made crude and disparaging comments about her victim, including joking about how she was sexually attracted to the 10-year-old. The DA subsequently admitted that the pedophile may have been handed a sentence too lenient after Gascón refused to prosecute her as an adult for a crime she committed as a male juvenile. According to Gascón's critics, he knew about the recordings but didn't take them seriously until they were aired on national television. Speaking to the Times, Shea Sanna, the deputy DA who prosecuted the case, noted how Gascón's aides had had access to the recordings since late January. "They demanded the recordings from me like three weeks ago," Sanna told the newspaper.

Meanwhile, Gascón was also blasted for his handling of the case by Tubbs' victim, who is now 18. "The things [Tubbs] did to me and made me do that day were beyond horrible for a 10-year-old girl to have to go through," said the victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, referring to Tubbs as a male. "That man was very clear-minded and old enough to know what he did that day was wrong and still did it anyway. It's something I struggle with and it's insulting that this is all he was given as punishment. And I want something done about it."

Following the backlash, Gascón appeared to backtrack on some of his most controversial policies, including not pursuing life sentences without the possibility of parole, not prosecuting juveniles accused of serious offenses as an adult, et cetera. The DA's U-turn came as he faces a second recall effort organized by his critics, who allege that his "woke policies" have contributed to LA's growing crime rates. The progressive DA highlighted the case of Tubbs in his statement announcing the policy changes. "After her sentencing in our case, I became aware of extremely troubling statements she made about her case, the resolution of it, and the young girl that she harmed," Gascón said
