What is geocaching?

Geocaching is an outdoor activity using a GPS system to find different containers, which are also called caches. Or in other words, you can also say that geocaching is akin to a worldwide treasure hunt. The National Trust says a geocache is “a small waterproof treasure box hidden outdoors” and the purpose of the game is to find them.

Every box is hidden by a geocacher, and typically there will be a logbook inside to leave a message in. Lucky ones might also find trinkets in there.

How to play this game?

1. People who wish to play have to register online to search for caches using real-world coordinates.

2. Secondly, they will have to simply  download the Geocaching app and pick the one they want to find.

3. Participants get the coordinates, and then it’s up to them to get searching. However, you’ll have to think outside the box to find the missing treasure.

4. Once you have found the cache and logged it online, you can put it back for others to find.

5. Since caches are of different sizes. It’s not as easy as merely following the location in the app, though. There is also a riddle to solve at the end, to make it more of a Indiana Jones-mystery adventure experience.
